The Sunday Post/It's Monday! What Are You Reading?

Check out the The Caffeinated Book Review for the Sunday Post!
It's Monday! What Are You Reading is hosted by Kathryn at Book Date

What a busy weekend! We had not one but two birthday parties for Wyatt's cousins on Saturday. One for his newly three year old cousin, and another for his cousin celebrating her Sweet Sixteen! I think it is so cool they all have such close birthdays. :) We took advantage of the nice weather this week too, with many walks and hanging out with friends and babies. It was a good week.

I hope to get my seeds started this week - I am so behind already, but I think I should still be ok. I really just want to start some flower seeds this year for a cutting garden. Everything is getting all green and growy, I can't wait!

Read:

Best of My Love by Susan Mallery: Overall, a fun read, although a wee bit sexist, in my opinion. Review to come soon.

Reading This Week:

Ugh I am so so so close to the end of the Oregon Trail! It will definitely be finished in the next few days. I never got to the Linda Lael Miller book from last week, so I might read that. Or I might read this one:

Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell: I have enjoyed everything I have read by Rowell so far. I am looking forward to this one.

I loved Pat Conroy's work.  I read every one of his books, and waited very patiently (not) for his next book to come out. He wasn't an author that published quickly, but when that next book finally did come out, it was well worth the wait. I was very saddened to hear of his death, and will feel his loss in the reading world, where we will all forever be waiting for another new book. Conroy's publisher, Open Road Media, sent me this very touching video tribute in honor of the late great Conroy.

The Sunday Post/It's Monday! What Are You Reading?

Check out the The Caffeinated Book Review for the Sunday Post!
It's Monday What Are You Reading is hosted by Sheila at Book Journey

We had such gorgeous weather this week! Fall in Michigan is so beautiful - everything is bathed in gold, orange and red; even the light is different, more warm and golden edged. The air is crisp, the nights are getting chillier, and good for cuddling and bonfires. Our bird feeders are going crazy, and we have had two different kinds of woodpeckers lately visiting us.

Wyatt and I went on a hayride the other day with our friends Karen and her 2 month old Emmett. I think Wyatt enjoyed it - he fell asleep! Lol.

Read Last Week:

Eight Hundred Grapes by Laura Dave: This was an enjoyable read! It made me want to drink wine though - not such a bad thing in moderation. Lol. Review soon.

Reading This Week:

Witch by Barbara Michaels:  I love reading Michaels this time of year. She is one of my go-to authors.

Need by Carrie Jones:  I know nothing about this other than I saw it on this list.

Posted Last Week:

What Wyatt's Reading- a list of picture books we are making our way through

Watching:

Woohoo for the return of old favorites! We are watching Supernatural, The Vampire Diaries, The Originals, and iZombie.  We are also watching The Middle for the first time and we love it!

It's Monday! What are you reading?

It's Monday, What Are You Reading? is a weekly meme hosted by Sheila at Book Journey, that is guaranteed to add to your reading list.

This week is going to be a repeat of what I was supposed to read last week. I am still waiting on one to come in from the library, although I think it got stuck in transit. I cancelled the hold and started a new one, just in case. So now hopefully, it will actually come in. Last week was super busy for me - I started subbing and I am not used to really working outside of the house. I came home on the days I worked and just crashed out, and in the case of one job where I had to get up at an ungodly hour, took a huge nap the next day too. I think I am getting used to it though now, and am getting smarter about which jobs I accept right now.

Read Last Week:

A Rough Guide to the Heart by Pam Houston: I love Pam Houston. She writes the most heartbreaking, beautiful essays. I had forgotten I had ordered this book when it surprised me by arriving last week. I immediately started reading, to realize, I can't read her while pregnant! Some of her essays make me sob on a regular day. Add hormones to the mix and it was a horror show. I will have to wait to finish this book, although I do love her work.

Reading this week:

The Little Paris Bookshop by Nina George: I started this last week, and have really enjoyed what I have read so far!

Hand to Mouth: Living in Bootstrap America by Linda Tirado: I am starting this book as well. I am sure I will take it slowly due to the material, but I read an essay from it that was really well done.

The One Way Bridge by Cathie Pelletier: I chose this based on the cover.

And of course, if that elusive book that will not be named finds its way to me, I will read that and not start a few of these others.

Watching:

My husband and I are toying with the idea of cutting our cable plan to basic and relying on Hulu Plus and Netflix. Has anyone else done that? I really wish you could pick and choose your channels, a la carte style. Anyway, we started watching Vikings, which I was reluctant to watch and now I love, and also 30 Rock, which I find hilarious!

Read Last Week:

Tomorrow Girls: Behind the Gates by Eva Gray: Another book for work. We are trying to find good dystopian books for middle grade students. This one was pretty good! I liked it enough that I want to read the second in the series. Review Thursday.

Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil by John Berendt: I love this book, weird as that may sound. I picked it for book club, and everyone else seemed to enjoy it as well. Book Club Post up Wednesday.

Reading this Week:

Time to read the big guns on my reading list that I have been super excited about.

Doctor Sleep by Stephen King: Yay!!!!! I wanted to wait until if October to start this. And now the weather is perfect for it, windy and rainy and perfectly autumn.

The Dream Thieves by Maggie Stiefvater: I already started this one, and I am loving it. I had to put it down to go the symphony this afternoon, and I was reluctant to leave it behind. Lol.

It' Monday, What Are You Reading?

It's Monday, What Are You Reading is a weekly blog meme hosted by Sheila at Book Journey where you list the books you read last week and the ones you hope to read this week.

Read Last Week:

Well, I thought it was going to be a slow reading week and it was. I just had bunches to do with yearbook being due and book club at my house. This week it will be nice to relax with a book. And catch up on reviews..

I only read:

Anyone but You by Jennifer Crusie: Very cute and fun.  There was a different dynamic in the book that I enjoyed.

Reading this Week:

Ok, I am going to change these up a bit from last week. I will still read those books, but not this week.

Farewell, Dorothy Parker by Ellen Meister: I won this from Librarything and I am so so excited to read it.  I LOVE Dorothy Parker - if I could go back in time and hang out with someone, it would be her.  It will be interesting to see how the main character channels her.

History of a Pleasure Seeker by Richard Mason: This is our book club book for March.  And for those of you who like Dan Stevens (Matthew Crawley from Downton Abbey), he narrates the audio book.

It's Monday, What Are You Reading is a weekly blog meme hosted by Sheila at Book Journey where you list the books you read last week and the ones you hope to read this week.

Read Last Week:

City of Bones by Cassandra Clare: I am definitely addicted to this series. I love this world Clare has created.
City of Ashes by Cassandra Clare: The second in the Mortal Instruments series ~ gosh do I have questions! (review soon)
The Wind Through the Keyhole by Stephen King: One of my top ten favorite authors.  I have loved everything he has ever written, just some more than others.
At Home on Ladybug Farm by Donna Hall: Yep still loving this quaint little series.  It is interesting to read the Clare series and this one simultaneously though.  I think they keep each other in check in my brain.
Wake by Amanda Hocking: I thought this was going to be a mermaid story like The Little Mermaid, but these mermaids have teeth!
Reading This Week:

City of Glass by Cassandra Clare: Yep, I am reading this series until I finish.
Love Letters from Ladybug Farm by Donna Hall: Aww, this sounds cute!
Royal Street by Suzanne Johnson: I picked this up at the library, since I am already deeply involved in urban fantasy already.
Into the Darkest Corner by Elizabeth Haynes: This was recommended by my friend Chrissy.  I am excited to read it!

I hope you all have a great week!

It's Monday, What Are You Reading?

It's Monday, What Are You Reading is a weekly blog meme hosted by Sheila at Book Journey where you list the books you read last week and the ones you hope to read this week.

Read Last Week:

I only managed one book last week! I had the reading blahs, but rushed to the library for Blue Asylum by Kathy Hepinstall when my hold came in.

Blue Asylum by Kathy Hepinstall: I really really wanted to read this. My dad used to take us to Sanibel Island on vacation every year, so when I read that was the setting, coupled with the fact that it seemed it was on the eerie side, I had to read it.  I thought it was well written and enjoyable until the end.  And I absolutely loved the character Ambrose!

Reading this Week:

The Secret Sense of the Wildflower by Susan Gabriel: I am going a little Indie this week, starting with Secret Sense of the Wildflower.  It just sounded like a perfect book fit for me.

Ciao by Bethany Lopez: From the Stories about Melissa series.  Beth has the touch when it comes to writing about teens, its almost like she is tied into their particular culture. I am looking forward to reading the third installment in the series.

The Waters of Star Lake by Sara Rath: I wanted to read this last week, I just was so blahy. I am back on track this week though!

A Year on Ladybug Farm by Donna Ball:  This just sounded fun!

This week I am celebrating the Indie Author with author interviews and a Giveaway!! Check back Tuesday for a chance to win Ciao!

It's Monday, What Are You Reading?

It's Monday, What Are You Reading is a weekly blog meme hosted by Sheila at Book Journey where you list the books you read last week and the ones you hope to read this week.

Read Last Week:

Death of a Valentine by M.C. Beaton - I adore these cozy mysteries about Hamish Macbeth in his corner of Scotland. I even had my husband watch the tv series with me, although they were not like the books, just because I love this character so much.  I thought I had read them all, but a few pop up that I missed. Review coming soon.

Porch Lights by Dorothea Benton Frank - I love these beach books set in the south.  They are pretty easy to read, and this one was a great pick to read after Shadow of Night.  Review coming soon.

Shadow of Night by Deborah Harkness- I loved this book! I enjoyed it so much more than the first one, which I really liked as well.  Review coming soon.

Reading this Week:

I am in a bit of a reading slump - I just can't find anything I am dying to read. I think this is because I have read so many great books in a row!

The Waters of Star Lake by Sara Rath-  I picked this up at the library - the cover really appealed to me.  I love water and lakes.

City of Bones by Cassandra Clare - I saved this series for such a time as this, when I felt all slumpy.  I have been reading her new series, Infernal Devices, but somehow missed this series, which I know is strange! I know I will enjoy these.

Death of a Maid by M.C. Beaton - Another Hamish Macbeth.
