The Sunday Post/It's Monday! What Are You Reading?

Check out the The Caffeinated Book Review for the Sunday Post
It's Monday! What Are You Reading is hosted by Kathryn at Book Date

What a busy weekend! We had not one but two birthday parties for Wyatt's cousins on Saturday. One for his newly three year old cousin, and another for his cousin celebrating her Sweet Sixteen! I think it is so cool they all have such close birthdays. :) We took advantage of the nice weather this week too, with many walks and hanging out with friends and babies. It was a good week.

I hope to get my seeds started this week - I am so behind already, but I think I should still be ok. I really just want to start some flower seeds this year for a cutting garden. Everything is getting all green and growy, I can't wait!

Read:

Best of My Love by Susan Mallery: Overall, a fun read, although a wee bit sexist, in my opinion. Review to come soon.

Reading This Week:

Ugh I am so so so close to the end of the Oregon Trail! It will definitely be finished in the next few days. I never got to the Linda Lael Miller book from last week, so I might read that. Or I might read this one:

Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell: I have enjoyed everything I have read by Rowell so far. I am looking forward to this one.

Posted Last Week:

I loved Pat Conroy's work.  I read every one of his books, and waited very patiently (not) for his next book to come out. He wasn't an author that published quickly, but when that next book finally did come out, it was well worth the wait. I was very saddened to hear of his death, and will feel his loss in the reading world, where we will all forever be waiting for another new book. Conroy's publisher, Open Road Media, sent me this very touching video tribute in honor of the late great Conroy.

  1. I really enjoyed Fangirl--more than I thought I would! Honestly, it didn't sound like anything I would enjoy, but I loved Eleanor and Park, so I thought I'd try it. Man, I love it when I'm wrong!

  3. Sounds like a good weekend! Will look forward to seeing what you think of Fangirl- it's the only book by Rainbow Rowell that I've read but I really liked it. I should read more of her stuff. It's been nice having warmer temps this week (Tuesday was awesome) but it rained all day today. Still, it beats snow. :)

    1. Good to know! I loved Eleanor and Park; I recommend that one for sure! It made me so mad in places but it was very well done.

The weather was amazing - this rain though, ew. But you are right, it could all be snow! Yuck.

I liked Fangirl when I read it. It was cute and I even liked the Harry Potter like meta story.

  5. Fangirl always sounds like a fun read to me, though I never picked one of her books up yet. I like your reading stamina with Oregon Trail. My kids used to play that older PC game of same name and it was fun for me to watch.

Good luck with your garden. Wyatt can be your helper and carry one of those plastic shovels :) He just had a birthday and now 2 cousins. Fun times for your family!

And how nice of Pat Conroy's publisher to send you that tribute. Rest in peace...

    1. I loved Eleanor and Parker by Rowell, even though it did make me so mad in places. It was one of those books you wish you could enter into and fix things for the characters. I hope Fangirl is just as good; it certainly sounds like it!

Thanks! That would be so cute! My own little farmer boy.

  8. Beautiful tribute to Pat Conroy and I enjoyed your post from last week, too. Sounds like you will be glad to finally finish Oregon Trail... hope you've enjoyed it. Eleanor and Park is the only Rainbow Rowell novel I've read (well, listened to) and I thought it was great. Will be curious to hear what you think of Fangirl if you decide to read it.

I have loved Oregon Trail! It was a fun read, and under normal reading conditions I would have been finished a lot quicker. But, time constraints slowed me down. Lol.
