It's Monday! What Are You Reading is hosted by Kathryn at Book Date
A little late but better than never!
I hope everyone who celebrates the holiday had a lovely Easter! Billy and I spent it with the boy at the zoo. The weather was gorgeous and all three of us had a great time.
I was sick last week, y'all. I was dragging wagon and needed help from my mom to make it through the week. I still don't have my voice completely back yet, but I am feeling 100% better.
Read Last (Two) Weeks:
Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell: You all said it was good, and it was! I loved it!
Home on Apple Blossom Road by Sheila Roberts: I won this in a contest on Roberts' Facebook page! I loved this book as well. Review - tomorrow! (hopefully)
The Oregon Trail: A New American Journey by Rinker Buck: I am done! I loved this book. I read it while my husband listened to it on audio; it was fun to discuss this book with him, like a mini book club. He beat me to the end, which never would have happened BB (before baby) but that is ok. Under normal circumstances, I would have whipped through this book. It was that good. But I decided to read this slowly, like Rinker and his brother chose to see America, slowly, and I am glad that I did. Billy and I are planning on doing this again, him listen, while I read - we just need to settle on a book.
Reading Now:
Fire Touched by Patricia Briggs: I love this series. I haven't always loved every book, but I do love Mercy. This book is great so far!
I may have to see if I can find The Oregon Trail and add to my TBR list! Here's what I've been reading: http://justasecondblog.blogspot.com/2016/03/what-im-reading-march-28-2016.html
ReplyDeleteIt was really good! I love journey type books, and this one was cool because of the historical factor too. :)
DeleteI want to read Fan Girl, only read 1 by RRowell and really enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteI have only read a few by her now, and I have loved them all. I highly recommend it!
DeleteFire Touched is finally coming up on my calendar. I love this series too. I also really liked Fangirl. Come see my week here. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteI am really digging Fire Touched! I just started it and I am almost done, which for me these days means I am reading while doing other things, like cooking and brushing my teeth. Lol. Multitask reading!
DeleteI just read Frost Burned by Patricia Briggs. She is always a good read! Hope you enjoy that one.
ReplyDeleteI'm intrigued by The Oregon Trail (my kids used to play the pc game) and now you have me interested. I like the mini book club of you and Billy! My elder daughter and I used to buddy read the same books, back when she wasn't in her current career and now has no time to read. Hope this plan works out for you. My husband doesn't read for pleasure anymore so I can't do this with him. Though my son and I both read the same book last month-- the one written by Dylan Klebold's mom (one of the Columbine shooters).
Have a great week, Erin, and enjoy that boy!
I am devouring it! Reading it whenever I get a second to squeeze it in.
DeleteI played that too!! I always started off conservatively but by the end would be at a grueling pace - my poor "family" was always getting injured or dying! It is nice, and it works out that Billy can listen to the audio book while I read it. :)
Oo I wanted to read that too! I am slightly nervous to do so though - did you read the Wally Lamb book about Columbine? SO sad, and it was only fiction!
Thanks Rita! :)
The Oregon Train sounds fascinating. I should try to get more co-current reading going with my husband. He usually picks a book years after I've read it and then wants to discuss it!
ReplyDeleteGlad you're feeling better. Have a good reading week!
This was our first time with the co-current reading, and it was fun! I am looking forward to finding our next book. And my mom does that to me! Lol.
DeleteYou read some great books while sick. The Mercy Thompson series is on my book bucket list. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteIt was a good reading week! Thank goodness for moms. :)
DeleteSounds like it was a rough week, but I'm glad you're feeing better. Also glad you enjoyed Oregon Trail... there is an interview at the end of the audiobook with Rinker and his brother. Hope you get a chance to listen to that even though you read the book.
ReplyDeleteThe only Rainbow Rowell I read was Eleanor & Park and I loved it. Will add Fangirl to my list.
I heard about that from Billy! I know that he bought it from Audible, so I will have to listen to it. It was kind of neat, I got to show him photos that were in the book, but he told me about the interview. Best of both worlds/mediums!
DeleteI loved Eleanor and Park - I need a sequel!
Happy Easter (yesterday)! Sorry to hea you're sick- I was too last week. Sore throat and all that... ugh. So much going around. Glad you liked Fangirl- I did too. And the Mercy thompson series I may try as I dip into urban fantasy a bit more. I just started one but I may read those next.
ReplyDeleteThat is what I had, chills, sore throat, laryngitis, fatigue - the fatigue is what did me in. I slept so much! I am thankfully feeling better - hopefully you are as well!
DeleteI love the Mercy Thompson series. She has a love a VWs that I share. Lol.
Yay, Fangirl! I love that book! I've been hearing a lot of good things about The Oregon Trail. It's getting closer every time to getting on my TBR list. :)
ReplyDeleteFangirl was awesome! I am so glad that I finally read it. And Oregon Trail was really good too - I love that type of conversational journey book.
DeleteEnjoy your reads and have a good week.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mystica!
DeleteSorry you were down with a bug. Grandparents are priceless. I do miss being near to my parents, but thankful husband is nearer in case of emergency. The zoo is always fun. I always picture in my mind the pictures my mum took of me in the stroller w/my dad pushing at the SF zoo. Glad you had some good reads. Knitting and knitting podcasts have been my addiction of late so reading is miniscule. Trying to remedy that tonight.
ReplyDeleteMan, it was awful! I haven't been sick in so long, it really hit me hard. I would definitely miss my parents were they not so near - our whole extended family is very close in proximity and in general, we are a close family, but the husband is the first person I lean on, so he needs to be closest. :) We had a great time at the zoo. What a great memory, of being at the zoo with your parents. Photos can be so meaningful. I am trying to get more into podcasts - I found a few history ones I am going to try to start listening to. Knitting ones sound cool too.
DeleteI keep seeing FanGirl around. I hope you are enjoying the book.
ReplyDeleteAnd....I hope you are feeling better. Everyone seems to be sick...me included. :)
I think I am on the mend, though.
