It's Monday, What Are You Reading?

It's Monday What Are You Reading is a weekly meme hosted by Sheila at Book Journey, where we share what we are reading and see what others are reading as well.

Read Last Week:

Tomorrow Girls: Behind the Gates by Eva Gray: Another book for work. We are trying to find good dystopian books for middle grade students. This one was pretty good! I liked it enough that I want to read the second in the series. Review Thursday.

Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil by John Berendt: I love this book, weird as that may sound. I picked it for book club, and everyone else seemed to enjoy it as well. Book Club Post up Wednesday.

Reading this Week:

Time to read the big guns on my reading list that I have been super excited about.

Doctor Sleep by Stephen King: Yay!!!!! I wanted to wait until if October to start this. And now the weather is perfect for it, windy and rainy and perfectly autumn.

The Dream Thieves by Maggie Stiefvater: I already started this one, and I am loving it. I had to put it down to go the symphony this afternoon, and I was reluctant to leave it behind. Lol.

  1. I still haven't read The Raven Boys but I'm glad you are enjoying the sequel. The Tomorrow Girls book looks good. It is hard to find dystopian fiction for that age group.

    1. It really is! We have K-5 at our school, and 3rd-5th all wants to read Hunger Games. We don't have it in our library, it is in the middle school library when they reach 6th grade, we just feel it is too mature for our kids. So we are trying to find books that our appropriate for our age group that are similar in theme. It is pretty difficult! The Tomorrow Girls series so far is pretty good! :)

  2. Maggie Stiefvater was a big hit over Wordstock, Portland's annual literary festival. I've been meaning to read her books.

    1. I am really looking forward to the King book! And Dream Thieves was excellent as well. :) I had never heard of Tomorrow Girls until the Scholastic Book Fair at our school. I picked it up for the library, and it was pretty good. It surprised me!

  6. A few years ago I knew a few people who were all reading Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil and really enjoying it. I passed on borrowing it, and maybe I shouldn't have. Hope you enjoy Doctor Sleep-- so many readers are having fun with it!

    1. My dad gave it to me to read a few years ago, and I loved it! So full of eccentric characters, based on real people! I just loved reading all about Berendt's Savannah experience, even without the murder mystery and Jim Williams. :)

I am looking forward to Doctor Sleep!

  7. I LOVED The Dream Thieves. I really need to get around to reading the rest of Maggie Stiefvater's books because if they are as good as this series I will definitely love them!

    1. Some of her series are hit or miss for me - but I love this one! In my opinion, it is definitely her best. I didn't mind the Wolves series, but I have to be in a quiet mood on a slow and snowy winter's day to enjoy them.

  8. I just read another post about how someone is loving Doctor Sleep. I'm on the wait list for it at the library, but I can't say that I'm waiting very patiently! Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil is a good one. Have you been to Savannah? I seem to remember that they offer tours based on the book/murder case. Enjoy your week!

    1. Omg Doctor Sleep is amazing!!! It is scaring me and making me anxious - just like a good horror book should. I am afraid to read what's next most of the time. Lol.

I love Savannah!! I have only been twice, but it is definitely on my top 5 favorite places I have gone. I went on one of those tours! I am an nerd. Lol.

    1. I am definitely enjoying it, although it is terrifying me! I will not read it before bed. I checked out a cute little cozy mystery so I don't go to sleep with this book fresh in my brain. Lol. It is so good!
