It's Monday! What are you reading?

It's Monday, What Are You Reading? is a weekly meme hosted by Sheila at Book Journey, that is guaranteed to add to your reading list.

Last week I saw so many beautiful moments - a pair of baby raccoon while on an evening walk in the woods, beautiful bright bouquets of sweet William, a heron flying over the river in a dense fog...surprising moments that were brief but an amazing reminder of the world. I have been reading and studying so much, that it was nice to glimpse these moments in between.

I also finally saw The Fault in Our Stars! I loved the kid who played Augustus - he did it perfectly.

Read Last Week:

Midnight Crossroad by Charlaine Harris: I thought this book was ok. It was a bit rambly and the plot was a little loose, but I am willing to give the next one in the series a try when it comes out. Review Thursday.

Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell: This book broke my heart! Review Friday in my book club wrap up.

Dark Witch by Nora Roberts: I finished this one just today, and I needed it after the emotional turmoil of Eleanor and Park and the movie.

Red-Tails in Love by Marie Winn: Omg I loved this!! Review Tuesday.

Reading This Week:

Blythewood by Carol Goodman: I saw this on Greg at Book Haven's blog last week, and it reminded me that I wanted to read it!

The Road to Burgundy by Ray Walker: I received this book from the publisher, and I can't wait to get started.

Winesburg, Ohio by Sherwood Anderson: It seems like a good time to read this book.

  1. I have heard The Fault in Our Stars is excellent. I am thinking about seeing it later this week.

I haven't spent much time in nature lately (not that I ever do) but last weekend I did get to see some baby rabbits at my sister's place. They were adorable.

I loved Eleanor and Park. It made me cry. Rainbow Rowell's other books have not lived up to that one for me. I hope your book group loved it too.

I read Winesburg, Ohio in college. I now live close to the real Winesburg which I was disappointed to learn is not the same town as the fictional Winesburg in the book.

    1. I really loved the movie. I thought it was very well done. I mean, the book will always be better, but this movie did a good job portraying all they needed to.

      Awww I love baby rabbits!

Eleanor and Park made me cry too! We are going to talk about it Thursday but so far the other two people I have talked to about it didn't cry! My mind was blown.

Oh wow!!! How neat! Is there a particular town that the book is based on? I will have to look it up. :)

    1. It was a very good week. :) Eleanor and Park was really good, but there were also some issues with it, I think. It was still very good though.

I am glad to hear it! I have to study for my final today and tomorrow, but I hope to squeeze in some reading as well these two days. :)

  4. What a wonderful week you've had, magic moments and good books is just what we need :) Thank you so much for telling me about the 1001 Children's books - list last week. I've now been at the library and I'm waiting for my turn to read "The Graveyard Book" by Neil Gaiman. I hope this week will bring you magic and wonderful reading too :)

  5. So funny...I loved the girl who played Hazel in Fault, but I wasn't as wild about Augustus. I must think about that a bit. Maybe I judged too quickly....

    Here's my It's Monday!

  9. I think I am going to save TFIOS movie for home viewing. I just don't have the strength or inclination to become a blubbering mess in public!

I need to get my Nora on! I have all of her most recent books but just haven't had a chance to squeeze one into the schedule. She's always a great palate cleanser too.

Great list of upcoming reads! Winesburg, Ohio is particularly wonderful. Enjoy!

  11. The only book I have of yours is Dark Witch, listed on my tbr pile to tackle with the COYER Challenge this summer. I looked at the blurb for Red-tails and realized I know their story because when I lived in NY they talked about them on the news sometimes and showed a bird-cam. I am not a birder, but since moving to my new place and setting up a bird feeder and water, I seem to have every little bird in the neighborhood visiting here!
Enjoy your week. Remember to take walks like the one you talked about. It's good for the soul :)

  14. My daughter and I had plans to go see TFIOS, but she delivered her baby early. May have to wait for Netflix. We had baby bunnies in our back yard last week, it was fun watching them. Have a great week.

  16. I am one of the only people who hasn't read Rainbow Rowell yet. I've never heard of Red-Tails in Love, it sounds great, have added it to the TBR- I will watch out for your review.

I love hearing from people, don't be shy! I would love to hear what you think! I always reply back, although it takes me a bit longer these days due to the little guy.
