It's Monday! What Are You Reading?

It's Monday, What Are You Reading? is a weekly meme hosted by Sheila at Book Journey, that is guaranteed to add to your reading list.

In school news this week, I decided to transfer universities. I transferred to Wayne State in Detroit, for a few reasons: it is closer, only ten minutes away rather than 45; my sister-in-law attends there and we can carpool occasionally; they have more night classes which is great because I work. I am all registered for my new classes too! I am excited, I am taking Italian this summer!

Read Last Week:

The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath: Pretty much like I remembered it, actually. Review soon.

Be Buried in the Rain by Barbara Michaels: I love these little mysteries that Micheal's writes. It was a good go-to when I needed a break from Plath.

Reading this Week:

I don't quite know, but it will be one or two of these.

La Bella Lingua by Dianne Hales: I checked this out because of my new Italian class. Lol.

The Heroine's Bookshelf by Erin Blakemore: I thought this sounded interesting.

Paddle Your Own Canoe by Nick Offerman: I was finally able to move past the debilitating embarrassment I felt for Leslie Knope in Parks and Rec, and now the husband and I are addicted. We love Ron Swanson!

Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World by Haruki Murakami: I wanted to read a Murakami book, and after reading the summary on this one, I knew I wanted to start here.

  3. It sounds like switching universities was a good move for you - I hope you enjoy the new one.
I attempted to read a Murakami novel late last year but it really wasn't for me (I read 1Q84) and it ended up being a DNF. I look forward to hearing your thoughts on this one.
    Happy Reading!

I am nervous about Murakami! He is way out of my comfort zone. :)

  4. I am glad you were able to transfer to a school that is more convenient for you! I've always wanted to learn Italian. It is a beautiful language.

I read The Bell Jar years ago and I think I liked it. I have The Heroine's Bookshelf on my bookshelf but I haven't read it yet and I've owned it for years now. I need to get around to reading it!

  5. As much as I love Amy Poehler, I can't believe I don't watch Parks and Recreation. I didn't realize Haruki Murakami has written so many books. I've been really wanting to read 1Q84. I hope you have a great week.

  6. Congrats on the university switch! Sounds like you will be under less stress at the new location, and that is always a good thing! What fun to take another language; are you taking a trip there or just want to learn it? I have read some Barbara Michaels way back when I can't even remember which ones. Your other books are new to me, but interesting choices. Enjoy.

Barbara Michaels is one of those authors for me that I return to over and over, comfort reads. :)

  12. Good luck at Wayne State! One of my best friends just graduated from their Occupational Therapy program last year. She had lots of good things to say about the school.

Enjoy your Italian class. Sounds like one I may need to sit in on, since my husband and I are visiting Italy this summer. I also have La Bella Lingua sitting on my shelf. I'll have to dust it off and try it out to get inspired to learn Italian!

I got a jump start on Italian - I checked out Drive Time Italian, and am learning it in my car. It is really cool!

I love hearing from people, don't be shy! I would love to hear what you think! I always reply back, although it takes me a bit longer these days due to the little guy.
