It's Monday! What are you reading?

It's Monday, What Are You Reading? is a weekly meme hosted by Sheila at Book Journey, that is guaranteed to add to your reading list.

I really read a lot of books last week!

Read Last Week:

The Museum of Extraordinary Things by Alice Hoffman: Hoffman outdid herself with this one! I loved it!

Flora and Ulysses by Kate DiCamillo: I read this as part of the Newbery Challenge. I adored it, it is wonderful!

Big Girl Panties by Stephanie Evanovich: Um. This one I didn't love so much.  It was weird. I am still deciding how I feel, about whether it was ok or not.

Insurgent by Veronica Roth: This was pretty good! I am undecided about reading the next book though! I just saw Divergent too - I actually liked it, although of course it wasn't as good as the book.

Reading this week:

The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath: I read this a long time ago, when I was younger. I am sure some of it went over my head, so I am giving it a reread. I will probably balance it out with something else.

  1. I did not like Big Girl Panties. At all. I was disappointed with it because it could have been a fun romance.

I did like Insurgent though I didn't think it was as good as Divergent and I still haven't read Allegiant. I am probably going to wait to see Divergent on DVD.

I read The Bell Jar when I was in my early 20s so maybe I'd have a different reading experience now.

    1. I mostly hated Big Girl Panties. I love Holly though. I don't think she is enough to carry the book, however. :(

I don't think I am going to read Allegiant. Lol. I liked Insurgent, but I agree, Divergent is better.

That is about when I read The Bell Jar too!

  5. You had a great reading week last week! I managed to reserve an Alice Hoffman novel at the library so hopefully I'll be delving in to some of her work soon - I reserved an The Story Sisters.

I read The Bell Jar a year or so ago and I've got to admit, it totally went over my head...

    Happy Reading!

    1. I feel conflicted only because I liked Holly so much. The other characters can go scratch. Lol.

I loved The Museum of Extraordinary Things!

  7. I still haven't decided whether to take the plunge into the Divergent books, but I do want to see the movie. We're going to try and catch it this week... it just looks like a fun movie to see at the theater.

    1. It was a good movie! I enjoyed it, although it didn't remain exactly to the book. I really liked Divergent a lot. Insurgent was pretty good, but I am pretty sure I am skipping the last book, weird as that sounds.

  8. I cannot wait to read that new Hoffman book! I'm so glad to know you liked it. And The Bell Jar is one of those books I really want to re-read. I loved it in my early 20s, and I wonder how I'd feel about it now.

    1. I feel like I want to revisit Sylvia Plath. I didn't quite get her when I was reading her before; I think reading it again now will be a big help in understanding her.

I hope you love the Hoffman book as much as I did!

    1. I think I am going to read some of Plath's poetry as well. I think the first time around I didn't quite get her. :)

  10. I am reading Divergent right now so that I can see the movies and compare them. :P That's great that you finished Insurgent. I'm not sure if I'll end up reading the third book either; it's become quite infamous for outraging readers. :$

I'm intrigued by Sylvia Plath's life. I wonder if any of it seeps into Bell Jar. Of course, sometimes it can be futile to try to psychoanalyze an author through their works. But it's still fun. >:O

  11. Flora & Ulysses is on my list to read soon for the Newbery Challenge. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it so much! The Bell Jar is on my Classics Club list, so I'm curious to see what you think about it after rereading it. I've never read it, but I will be sometime in the next five years!

I love hearing from people, don't be shy! I would love to hear what you think! I always reply back, although it takes me a bit longer these days due to the little guy.
