It's Monday, What Are You Reading?

Brought to you by Sheila at Book Journey!

My sister in law freezing in Detroit.

I got my wish for snow! Yay!! It has been snowing like the Dickens out there this weekend, and there are piles and piles of fluffy snow all around. And it is still going! We also woke up early to battle the snow and to go to the first showing this morning of The Hobbit - which I loved!

I have been preparing for the holidays, and having so much fun! I hope all of you are having a wonderful December as well.

Read Last Week:

Night of Cake & Puppets (Daughter of Smoke and Bone, #2.5)    Ethan Frome

Night of Cake and Puppets by Laini Taylor: This book was full of magical moments that made me feel all dreamy. Review Tuesday.
Snow Day by Shannon Stacey: I read this in the hopes of snow, and I got it! Thanks book! Review this week. Review Wednesday.

Ethan Frome by Edith Wharton: Pretty crazy time but I still enjoyed it.

Reading This Week:

City of ThievesThe Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (Chronicles of Narnia, #2)
City of Thieves by David Benioff: My brother gave me this to read a few years ago, I think. Yikes. I am reading it now though, so that's ok right?

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis: Can you believe I have never read this book before? Another wrong I am righting.

  1. I was just watching The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe earlier this week. I read the book as a kid and then reread it a few years ago when the movies were coming out. I still haven't finished the series but that one is my favorite of the books I've read.

I'm glad you are enjoying the snow. I kind of hate it. It was different when I was a kid and didn't have to drive in it :)

    1. I really hate driving in it too. :( But, I love snow more! Lol.

I am looking forward to reading The Lion..book! I have heard many good things, and feel like I really missed out by not reading it.

  2. OMG! I adore The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. The funny part, when I first read it (I think in 4th grade? Maybe.), I had nooooooo clue what a "wardrobe" was. I couldn't picture it in my head. Totally wish we had google back in the... um, back then. I had to be shown one before it clicked. Haha. It's great.

Oh and I totally miss the snow. Actually, I miss four seasons. Phoenix has two distinct temperature changes but it doesn't change much. Haha.

    1. Lol! I don't think I would have known what a wardrobe was either back then. ;) And I can only imagine how much easier my life would have been with google growing up.

Snow is fun. I missed it last year, we had a pretty snowless winter. It looks like this year might be different. :)

  5. Congrats on the snow. You can have it - at least, until I get to my Christmas destination. I liked The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. I missed lots of kids' books too and am slowly filling in the gaps. Come check out my Monday Report if you get a chance. Happy reading and happy holidays!

    1. Be careful driving! That is really the only drawback to snow, driving in it. :(

I am going to work on The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe today I think. I am in the mood for whimsy.

  6. Hmm I have the second Hobbit film yet to go and see. Sounds like there is snow in it. Snow Day looks like a book I would read.

  7. We're on the other side of the mitten but family is all on the east side of the state. We've been getting a ton of snow here too. It's been fun, I like a snowy Christmas but maybe not this much. :) Glad you got to see the Hobbit, I'm looking forward to that.

    1. I always love visiting the west side of Michigan. Nise lives there too! I am definitely like a kid when it comes to snow - I love tramping through it, hiking in the woods or snowshoeing or an impromptu snowball fight. :)

  8. I enjoyed the Hobbit movie too. And City of Thieves caught my interest. Are you enjoying it?

    1. I am enjoying it. The book has some intense moments, and it is pretty bleak in spots, but somehow the author has worked humor and levity into the story as well, so it is not as depressing. :) It is very well done.

I can't wait for the third now!

  10. I want to read Night of Cake & Puppets, looks really good and I love Zuzana's character so much. But first I need to get my butt in gear and read Days of Blood & Starlight.

  11. I can sympathize with your sister-in-law. It is FRIGID here as well but not that much snow. Just freezing drizzle. :) And 18 degrees. Too early for those temperatures.

Looks like you have a good week coming up. ENJOY all your reads. I do have to say the snowy covers are gorgeous. :)

    Have a great week.

    1. My poor SIL. She hates the winter, she is such a summer girl. Ugh, freezing drizzle! We had that bitter cold early last week, it was horrid. And I agree, way too early for any of this weather.

      :)
