Top Ten Tuesday!

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme by The Broke and The Bookish.

Today's Top Ten is:

The Top Ten Series You Haven't Finished

1.  The Percy Jackson Series: I started reading these for work, and I just never got around to finishing.

2.  The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare: I have read the first three, and haven't read the rest yet. And actually, I might never read the rest.

3.  The Anita Blake series by Laurell K. Hamilton: My husband first bought me the books that were out in this series about 12 years ago, when I was sick and off work for a week with pneumonia.  I read the first 6 or so, then started buying the new ones when they came out.  What started as a supernatural series with a real kick-butt heroine turned crazy! Anita Blake became a giant hooker, and the books were only about sex at that point, and it was like reading straight up porn. So I stopped reading.

4.  Game of Thrones by William R.R. Martin:  My brother got me started reading this series, and I am reading them slowly but surely.  I will be done one day! (dramatic fist shake)

5.  Fifty Shades of Grey by E.L. James:  It wasn't as much the subject matter but how poorly written it was! Ok, and some of it was I couldn't stand the main characters either.

6.  The Uglies by Scott Westerfield: I was really enjoying these - I think I just forgot about them.

7.  The Parasol Protectorate by Gail Carriger: I read two in this series, but never really got into it.

8.  The Dublin Murder Squad by Tana French: I absolutely loved the first two in this series, but didn't care for the third, so I didn't bother to read the newest one.

9.  The Shadow Children Series by Maragaret Peterson Haddix: Another series I was reading for work. I really liked the ones I read, I just haven't read the others.

10.  The House of Night series by P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast: Someone at work was loaning me these; I read a few but then I started to lose interest.

  1. I just read A Game of Thrones last month and look forward to reading the other books but probably not till next year. They will make for great reading in January (Winter is coming and all that) :)

The Mortal Instruments series is on my list too. I've read the first 4 but don't think I will continue.

  2. I'm not usually one for series, but I did make it to the end of Percy Jackson. Just love Rick Riordan!

Here's my Top Ten Series I Haven't Finished. I hope you will stop by!

  3. Most of the series I read are mysteries and most of them I cannot keep up with the pace of publishing so I give up. I'm now 3 books behind on my Mary Russell/Sherlock Holmes series that I have loved, but I think 3 books is getting to be a big gap and I don't know if I can make the catch up happen.

    1. Some of those mystery series authors are really prolific! I have not read that series, but I have seen them on your blog - they do look interesting. I love mysteries in the winter. :)

  4. I haven't finished the House of Night books, either-- lost my interest around the fourth book. Game of Thrones is an incredible series, probably my favorites right now. (But it changes every other month!) They're actually by George RR Martin-- really great fantasy author in general; I'm just about to read his book Fevre Dream (about vampires, actually) and it looks amazing!

  5. Fevre Dream is on my list of books to read in October - it looks so good! I will probably start the third in the Game of Thrones books in December. :)

  6. I read the first book in the The Parasol Protectorate and didn't love it. I think I'll probably skip the rest. I just finished the first book in the Dublin Murder Squad series and loved it, so I'm looking forwrad to the next one.

  7. I read a few of The Shadow Children and never finished. I should go back to them though-I'd like to know how it ended but feel like I would need to reread the first 4-5 to understand again.

    1. I know, I kind of feel that way too. I really remember the first book well, the others I am a little cloudy on.

  8. When I know that a book is going to eventually lead to a series I'll just wait until they are all out so I don't have to wait. Otherwise I tend to forget about them!

    1. I definitely loved the first two - my book club is having a book giveaway next month, and The Likeness might actually be the book I choose to give away.

  10. I have Uglies and Percy Jackson to finish as well - like Gemma Doyle I just stopped reading them. The more I look at other people's lists the more I'm reminded of series I have to finish.

I love hearing from people, don't be shy! I would love to hear what you think! I always reply back, although it takes me a bit longer these days due to the little guy.
