Check out the The Caffeinated Book Review for the Sunday Post
It's Monday! What Are You Reading is hosted by Kathryn at Book Date
Happy Easter, to those who celebrate! It was a beautiful day in our neighborhood, and we celebrated the day with a delicious family brunch followed by a small trip to the zoo. We had a great day and are now exhausted!
I am also an aunt again! My brother-in-law and his wife had their little girl Friday - 7 lbs 7 oz of awesome! I love her little self so much already!
Read Last Week:
Silence Fallen by Patricia Briggs: I've said it before, and I will say it again, I really think this series gets better and better every book, with the exception of River Marked, which I actually really didn't like. Lol. This one however was hands down my favorite in the series - I loved it! Review soon.
Reading This Week:
I'm left with a few "slow reading" books, those books that you take your time with and read a little here, a little there. It's also time for me to read my annual spring read of my favorite book!
Watership Down by Richard Adams: I was so sad to hear of Adams' passing last year. This book has been my favorite for most of my life, and I read it every year in the spring.
We Stood Upon Stars by Roger W. Thompson: I read a chapter from this every night, and it is the perfect end to the night. Calming, zenlike.
Life Among the Savages by Shirley Jackson: I am enjoying this look at Jackson's life through her work. I am also enjoying taking my time with it.
Watching:
Riverdale, The Path, Victoria, Grimm, Supernatural, 13 Reasons Why

How about you? What's been going on in your world?
A nice array of genres here. I will move up that Mercy Thompson series for this year. I read the first book some time ago. May have to reread to refresh my memory. What a lovely Easter you had with the family. I blinked and Easter came. The girls were going to dye eggs but they played with our neighbor outside and inside and make rice krispies.
ReplyDeleteI love the characters and Briggs has just been fleshing out the world every book, adding more depth, in my opinion. This last book was really very good, I loved it!
DeleteI kind of felt like that too! We didn't get to dye eggs, but next year for sure! It sounds like you had a fun day with the fam. :)
I'm moseying along in that book but I'm enjoying it. I do like an underdog and hearing the woman roar by the end. I sure like her lawyer.
DeleteHappy Easter! We finally got some decent weather to celebrate- hope it was nice over there too! And congrats on the new family member!
ReplyDeleteThe fact that so many people say the Mercy books get better and better keeps me wanting to read em.
And Riverdale *nods*.
This weather has been beautiful! I am loving it. I heard it is supposed to grow a little cold again soon, but hopefully that is a lie! :) And thank you!
DeleteI think Briggs has been really flowing with her creations lately, adding a little more depth and more world building. I am loving her direction!
*nod back
Sounds like you had a wonderful Easter. Congratulations on your new niece!
ReplyDeleteI haven't read Watership Down. I will have to remedy that. I remember looking at it as a kid because it featured rabbits but it didn't appeal to me at the time.
Hope you have a fantastic week!
Thank you!
DeleteI love Watership Down - I read it first in like 6th grade, and I loved it then. A lot of it went over my head, and as I have grown older I love it more. I love bunnies! :)
Watership Down is a great book. I could go for a re-read. Plague Dogs, also by Adams is good but very different, and darker.
ReplyDeleteI'm back from my trip. It didn't turned out as planned but we had fun. Come see what we did and what I read.
It is so good! I loved Plague Dogs too, but never again!!!!! It killed me. It actually I think was an early influencer of my becoming a vegetarian and animal rights activist. So good but so dang horrid at the same time.
DeleteI will pop over soon! I am looking forward to seeing what you have been up to!
Congratulations on your new little niece!
ReplyDeleteThank you! :) She is so darn cute and chubby cheeked!
DeleteI very much want to read Silence Fallen but it keeps getting pushed back on my calendar by in-coming review books. I hope to get to it soon. Come see my week here. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteI am sure you are going to love it when you finally get the opportunity! :)
DeleteCongrats, Auntie! I've fallen behind on the Mercy Thompson series - I think Book 6 was the last I read. I need to catch up!!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteI had to look! Book 6 was River Marked, which I actually didn't care for. Was that your experience? It is the last one my husband read too!
I have got to get to the Mercy Thompson series. My niece continually tells me I am missing out.
ReplyDeleteWhen I first started it, I was reading a lot in this genre. I don't read many of the other series much anymore, but despite a shaky book number 6, I have stuck with Mercy! :)
