It's Monday, What Are You Reading? is a weekly meme hosted by Sheila at Book Journey, that is guaranteed to add to your reading list.
Read Last Week:
Ammie, Come Home by Barbara Michaels: The first book in the Georgetown series. This book usually doesn't scare me, but I must be in a different state of mind as it did scare me this time. Lol. I have posted a review before, here is the link.
The Witch With No Name by Kim Harrison: I loved this book. I am so sad this series is over!!
Blubber by Judy Blume: Read and reviewed as part of Banned Book Week.
Reading This Week:
Visions by Kelley Armstrong: I didn't get to this last week, so it is on my list again for this week.
Sinner by Maggie Stiefvater: I am excited to read this Wolves of Mercy Falls book!
Watching:
We finished Firefly (cancelled too soon!! Such a good show) and started watching Friday Night Lights. Season 2 of that show has started off crazy! I am anxious to see where the season will take us. I am also catching up on Downton Abbey via Amazon. I just started Season 4.
I hope you like Sinner. I read the first three books and maybe I will read Sinner eventually. I like Maggie Stiefvater's writing style but the pacing is frustrating for me.
ReplyDeleteI love Downton Abbey and I'm watching Season 5 right now. So far I like it and hopefully it will be more lighthearted.
Do you think the books are slow? I kind of think that too. I was reading them in the winter and somehow it worked for me.
DeleteSeason 4 is killing me! I keep crying. :(
Good books! I used to read Barbara Michaels many many years ago and enjoyed her. I love when a reader can sink into an older book with so much pleasure. It's not all about the new and shiny ones all the time. I'm curious about the Kim Harrison series, not sure if it is right for me, but if I see book 1 in the library will look it over.
ReplyDeleteMy eldest is into Firefly and I know it has a cult following. I only saw one episode, not the first, and was very confused but that is because I needed the back story.
I have the book that comes before Visions, but haven't read it yet. Might pick it up later this month. Enjoy your week and have fun reading.
Some books are oldies but goodies! I am a definite rereader, and I read older books as well as new. I guess I am an equal opportunity reader! :)
DeleteFirefly had some holes, but I think that is because there never was a complete season. :( I guess some of my questions will be answered when we watch the movie, Serenity, but not all sadly, or so my husband says. :)
I really need to try one of Maggie Stiefvater's books!!
ReplyDeleteOo the Raven Boy's series is really good! I love it!
DeleteBlubber! I adored that book when I was a teen :D I'm off to check out your review...
ReplyDeleteHave a fab week! Miss ya!
I know, I have to pop over to your blog more often! Miss you too!
DeleteI never did see all of Firefly, I really should check it out. It was canceled already before I ever discovered it... looks like you have some good reads for starting October.
ReplyDeleteFirefly is awesome! I think you would love it!! I didn't watch it when it was on, but my husband did, and it was at his urging I watched it, then loved it!
DeleteOne day I am going to put the Hollows series in my TBR, I would have as of late, but I just got caught up in Cinder and Throne of Glass.
ReplyDeleteGuy Vestal @ Counter Culture Critic
I love the Hollows series! I encourage everyone to read it, especially if they are fans of the genre. :)
DeleteI remember reading Blubber when I was a kid. I actually did a biography report in third grade about Judy Blume. It's been awhile since I've picked up one of her books, though. Maybe it's time to reread one!
ReplyDeleteI wonder if she has a Newbery winner! I bet she does. I was a huge Judy Blume fan, it was nice to visit her again.
DeleteOooh, I didn't know there was a new Mercy Falls book. I'll have to check it out! I need to catch up on Downton Abbey as well. I just manage to stay one season behind. I need to ask if someone has it on DVD so I can borrow it. Enjoy your week!
ReplyDeleteI was a few seasons behind but I am kind of embarrassed to say I am catching up pretty quickly. Lol.
DeleteI can't believe I've never seen all of Firefly. It's a little embarrassing to admit. :) I've been thinking about watching Friday Night Lights. It seems to be a character driven show which would be nice.
ReplyDeleteI loved it! I couldn't get enough, and then I was sad when it was over after a measly 14 episodes! :( I really enjoy Friday Night Lights. It seems to be about real people, and I get all pumped up for football which is really weird because I hate football. I think it is just the sense of strong community that the show promotes that makes me feel that way though, not the football. Lol.
