It's Monday, What Are You Reading is a weekly meme brought to you by Sheila at Book Journey where you share what you have been reading and what you plan to read.
Read Last Week:
This Rough Magic by Mary Stewart: Gothic set in Greece.
I am having such a slow reading month! I checked my Goodreads history, and it seems I really slow down this time of year. I wonder if it is spring fever, I just can't seem to concentrate lately.
Reading This Week:
We are planning on beefing up our fairy tale retellings in our library, so we are spending some time doing reading homework. Be prepared to see lots of fairy tale retellings for a bit. Lol. And if anyone has any suggestions for a K-5 school library, I would love to hear them!
The Last Unicorn by Peter S. Beagle: I figured while I was doing homework I would read this too. This wouldn't be for work though, just me. Lol.
The Curse of the Thirteenth Fey by Jane Yolen: Homework book #1.
Still Reading:
History of a Pleasure Seeker by Richard Mason: I am almost finished! It's pretty good, I just wasn't in the mood.
I wouldn't be too surprised if spring fever has thrown a wrench into your reading plans. It's a weird time of year isn't it? I hope you enjoy all of your upcoming fairy-tales :)
ReplyDeleteThe weather here has been so weird! Sunny and cold yesterday, gloomy today, and hailing! Then we will have a gorgeous 60 degree day. I find myself caught up in various projects, like garden planning, etc. I have got my head in the clouds over here. Lol. These fairy tales will probably fit right into my daydreamy mood.
DeleteI am still to get to Mary Stewart. I have read reviews of several books and they all sound very good.
ReplyDeleteI really liked Nine Coaches Waiting, Thornyhold, and Touch Not the Cat by Stewart. This one wasn't bad either. :)
DeleteI almost always start slow in January and February and then I explode with reading in March. I think we do all have reading patterns - ebbs and flows. Enjoy your week!
ReplyDeleteYes, that is probably true. I like that, a natural ebb and flow. This is definitely a slow time for me, I have been woolgathering for sure, hoping for spring and planning all that I want to do. And I can't wait to eat fresh, local raspberries again! Lol.
DeleteI can't believe I have never read The Last Unicorn. This was one of my favorite movies as a child. My sister and I watched it over and over again. I look forward to reading what you think of the book. I may have to go back and revisit this one soon. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteHappy Reading,
Rebecca @ The Key to the Gate
My cousin and I did the same thing!!! My husband bought me the movie a few years ago for Valentine's Day, lol. I It doesn't get watched as often as it did when I was little, but I still watch it. Lol. Remember the harpy? That thing scared the crap out of me!
DeleteI can't believe I've not read The Last Unicorn ! Thanks for stopping by and telling me its gont onto my to read pile, it should go nicely with The Princess Bride.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking that The Princess Bride would be a good follow up to my Last Unicorn! :)
DeleteGothic and Greece seem like they would go well together. Let us know what you think of it when you are done.
ReplyDeleteSure thing! I finished, my review should be up Wednesday or Thursday. :)
DeleteThe Last Unicorn - awesome :) Happy reading & have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThanks! You too!
DeleteMy mom was crazy about Mary Stewart, and she let me read everything after she'd read it. I definitely remember Rough Magic. I wonder if I'd like it as much now as I did then.
ReplyDeleteThat is awesome! I liked it, but I didn't like it as much as some of her others. And this was a reread from a long time ago too.her were some parts that left me a little confused, only because of my lack of knowledge of the area :)
DeleteUm, where have I been? I don't think I've ever heard of the Last Unicorn, movie or book. Well hope you enjoy your reading this week and I look forward to hearing what fairy tale retellings you have in store for us. I love those types of stories.
ReplyDeleteHere's my monday reading update if you'd like to stop by....http://momssmallvictories.com/its-monday-what-are-you-reading-march-18-2013/
I'd be curious to read The Last Unicorn since I've only seen the animated film. I hope your week is going great!
