It's Monday! What Are You Reading?

It's Monday! What Are You Reading is hosted by Kathryn at Book Date

Happy Halloween!!! May all of you who celebrate have a great night!

I am kind of sad to say goodbye to October, my favorite month. It was a good October though, so I won't complain too much. Onward to November, the month of Thanksgiving and of my birth!

Little man caught a cold last week~ it was the first one we really had to deal with, and it wasn't fun for any of us, most of all him! He is still recovering from it, but is getting better. We stayed in all weekend allowing him time to rest and do what he needed to do to get better. Hopefully tomorrow (Halloween) he will be well enough to venture out for a block or two and to hang out with his cousin! They are both going to look so cute! W. is going to be a viking, and his cousin L. is going to be a dragon!

I did some reading and movie watching, but didn't get a chance to finish up all my R.I.P. posts. Ah well, there is always next year!

Read last Week:

Witch at Odds by Juliette Harper: I am enjoying this series I found through Amazon Kindle. Mini-review here.

Sisters' Fate by Jessica Spotswood: I started this series a few years ago and remembered I never finished it!

Reading This Week:

My mailbox was busy this week! I was lucky enough to receive three books, yay! I am starting one this week - so far, so good!

Behind Closed Doors by B.A. Paris: From St. Martins Press. I am not too far in, but so far I am liking it!

Watching:

Supernatural, Van Helsing, Gilmore Girls (rewatch -so excited for the new stuff!!), How to Get Away with Murder, and TWD, although I couldn't actually watch last week's episode, too brutal for me. :(

We also watched 10 Cloverfield Lane over the weekend - I am unsure how I felt about it, honestly. It felt like two different movies to me.

  1. Behind Closed Doors looks good...I've been saying for YEARS that I don't like thrillers, yet I seem to enjoy almost everyone I read! Ha! Anyway, this one might be right up my alley!

    1. Lol I am kind of the same way! I decided to embrace the fact this year that I do like thrillers and mysteries. Behind Closed Doors is getting so good and suspenseful! Eek!

  2. Happy Halloween! I'll miss October too- although I do like Thanksgiving. Hope you guys have a great night out trick or treating. :)

I didn't watch TWD last week either, but I got the gist of it. I heard tonight's was a little tamer lol, I usually watch 'em the enxt day on Amazon. And Van Helsing I need to watch.

    1. Thanksgiving is nice too ~ good lazy times with family, or at least in my family. Lol.

We always watch them the next day too! So hard to avoid spoilers but we cut the cord a few years ago, so we have to rely on alternative television watching methods. I certainly hope that this season doesn't stay so brutal, I wouldn't be able to watch the show anymore. :(

  3. Happy Halloween! October is my favorite month, too... I love everything about fall. Hope the little guy is back to 100% so he can enjoy all the fun today. Behind Closed Doors looks so good. Enjoy!

  4. Happy Halloween! October is my favorite month too, and I'm always sad to see it go. Although I do love the festive air from Halloween on, and I'm excited to start thinking about Christmas gifts!

I'm re-watching "Gilmore Girls" too! I ended up starting with season 5; are you re-watching the whole show? I am totally with you about last week's "TWD." I'm not easily offended but I found the violence and gore to be totally gratuitous and excessive. Nobody wants to see that; I'd much rather have that bit briefly covered and then gotten on with the story.

    1. It's the best! These are definitely the best three months of the year - October, November, December. :)

I did start at Season 1, but..I didn't watch every episode. I just rewatched the entire show when it came out streaming in 2014, and some of them I don't care if I watch again. But I can't miss the Bracebridge Dinner episode, it is one of my favorites! Lol.

That episode was just too much. My husband even said it was brutal to watch, and he is not squeamish. He just kept saying, "Don't look. Don't look. Don't look." Lol. I hope that the rest of the season is not so horrific. :(

  5. Happy Halloween! Hope you have a fun night.

I need to re-watch GG so badly. Hopefully I'll be able to get to that soon!

Hope you have a great week and enjoy the beginning of your birthday month! :)

  8. Ooh, I do like a good witch series. Sorry Wyatt got ill but glad he got better and what great parents you are to just be to let him heal. Happy Halloween and have fun trick-or-treating. Neighbors do love seeing the kids in their costumes. Cross your fingers for us that we'll hit all 2 miles of courts here.

    1. Thanks Stefanie! Hopefully you were able to hit all the houses on your list! We took Wyatt and his cousin out for a block of trick or treating. That was all we had intended since they are so little, so yay! Mission accomplished! That witch series is fun!

  9. I've been sick with a bad cold recently, so I've been binging a lot of tv shows on Netflix, including How to Get Away With Murder, but I'm such a wimp, I find shows like this so stressful! TWD is waaaay too scary for me - I watched the first episode, and that was enough for me! ;)

I love hearing from people, don't be shy! I would love to hear what you think! I always reply back, although it takes me a bit longer these days due to the little guy.
