My Sunday/Monday Update~ Feb. 8, 2015

It's Monday, What Are You Reading? is a weekly meme hosted by Sheila at Book Journey, that is guaranteed to add to your reading list.

I had big reading plans for last week, but my cold did me in! I spent most of the week crashed out sleeping. I do feel much better now though! My week of sitting on my duff continues per the doctor, so we will see what this week brings.

The blizzard from last week brought 16.5 inches of snow in less than 24 hours! It was crazy~ I had wished for snow, but I didn't anticipate that much! My city was one of the hardest hit.

Also, even after trying this and failing before, I started a blog simply for the pregnancy and baby. I am hoping to keep it up ~ I think it will be a great way to keep in touch with scattered family members regarding the little guy, after he is here. I will probably still talk about all that here as well, since it is obviously a huge part of my life right now (the hugest!) but probably not as in depth as I will there. If you want to check it out, it is the Magpie Mom.

Read Last Week:

Frostfire by Amanda Hocking: This was a fun read! I enjoyed it while convalescing.

The Sh!t No One Tells You by Dawn Dais: I loved this book! There was a chapter I wasn't too keen on, but otherwise I found this book to be helpful. I think what I learned most was not to be too attached to an idea about what you think you might do as a parent ~ it may be subject to change.

Reading This Week:

Unruly Places: Lost Spaces, Secret Cities and Other Inscrutable Geographies by Alastair Bonnet: Little know fact about me~ I am a geography nerd.

And then I am not sure! I guess I will wait and see what comes in from the library, and/or strikes my whimsy!

  1. Wow a lot of snow! I just finished Silver Thaw by Catherine Anderson which had a big snow storm in it. I can only imagine. Frostfire has a wonderful cover, looks like it might be part of a series. Loved the title of the baby book, all the best for the new adventure. I adore my little gran niece and nephew and love keeping up with their antics so your family will enjoy the baby blog.

    1. It was an insane amount of snow! It just kept falling and falling. Lol. I will have to check out Silver Thaw, I love to read about snow while surrounded by snow. :) I love the Frostfire cover too! It is part of a series, and ended in what seems like mid book. Not just a cliff hanger, but mid-book! I hate that. I loved the book but now I have to wait until May. :( That parenting book was hilarious as well. :)

    1. I couldn't believe it! And just think, not too long ago I mentioned my desire for all your lake effect snow. And now, a ton of snow fell on us. Lol. My family hates snow, I am an anomaly- they were all going nuts. Lol. The parenting book was hilarious! I am super excited to start the geography book. :)

  3. I hope you feel better this week! That is a lot of snow. We were supposed to get a lot last weekend too but we didn't get nearly as much as predicted so I did have to go to work on Monday. A lot of it melted this weekend with the brief warm up we had.

The Amanda Hocking book looks interesting. I love the cover.

    1. Thanks Christina! I am feeling much better! That cold hit me hard, but I think it was so hard because I can't take anything for it!

It was pretty entertaining! I love that cover too. :)

  9. I dipped into Unruly Places last week, and I love what I've read so far! I have a few novels to get done with first, but I think I'll circle back to this one soon.

  10. I didn't read any parenting books whilst I was pregnant - I'm the kind of person that would fuss if things weren't going by 'the book' when of course every baby is different - but the one you read this past week looks interesting, not the usual kind.

Woah, that's a lot of snow!

    1. I don't know much about babies. Lol. The last time I held one was when my brother was born 33 years ago. I'm not too paranoid (yet!) and am living by if the doctor isn't concerned, then neither am I. Hopefully I can keep that attitude after the baby is here! Unfortunately, I will probably be a crazy mess. The one book was hilarious though, and I really enjoyed it. It kind of put everything into a realistic perspective.

It was a ton of snow! Winter came all at once. Lol.

I love hearing from people, don't be shy! I would love to hear what you think! I always reply back, although it takes me a bit longer these days due to the little guy.
