It's Monday! What Are You Reading?

It's Monday, What Are You Reading? is a weekly meme hosted by Sheila at Book Journey, that is guaranteed to add to your reading list.

I had a fun filled weekend! I hope that everyone, American or non-American, enjoyed their weekends, whatever you were doing or celebrating.  I spent a lot of time outdoors this weekend, soaking up the beautiful weather we have been having! I did get a bit behind on my reading though.

Has anyone else watched Friday Night Lights? We just started watching it on Netflix and are addicted!

Read Last Week:

The Road to Burgundy by Ray Walker: A delightful story of one American's journey to becoming a winemaker. Review Wednesday.

If You Were Here by Jen Lancaster: I picked this up at the library the other day. I have never read anything by Lancaster before, and I really liked this one!

Save the Date by Mary Kay Andrews: As always, I love Andrews and her books. They make me want to move to Savannah desperately though! Review Thursday.

Reading This Week:

The Hexed by Heather Graham: I didn't get to this last week, so it is first up this week.

Lessons in French by Hilary Reyl: I am participating in the Paris in July meme, and I am reading this as part of it. I am loving this meme! Now, if only I could find some macarons...

Conversion by Katherine Howe: I really enjoyed The Physick Book of Deliverance Dane, and this seems to be along a similar vein.

  1. Looks like a really good last week and one coming up for you.
I want to read Conversion, but hearing you give the opinion that it might be similar to Physick Book of Deliverance Dane excites me, because I just bought that one at Goodwill last week for a quarter! I need to read the blurb on it more carefully; I was just grabbing books that I recognized without really remembering how I knew about them :)
I'm curious about Jen Lancaster; I have one on her older books on my kindle never read. She seems to either have loyal fans or serious detractors, so I wasn't sure whether I should bother reading her. Hope to hear more about this book from you. Have a great week!

    1. I think that Conversion is similar to Deliverance Dane, in the sense that I know it is going to have something to do with the Salem witches. :) The author Katherine Howe is a descendant, I think I read somewhere, of one of the so-called Salem witches.

Jen Lancaster. The book I read was fun, and I loved all the John Hughes references, but she also employed foot notes - that were silly and annoying. I would give this book 2-3 stars. Does that help? If not I am going to write a review as well. :)

  2. All look great books. I have Save the Date on my iPod ready to listen to, but will be a little while to get to it. I like her as an author too. I have not tried a Katherine Howe book but I have seen her recommended.

  3. I have a copy of Lessons in French to read too - really different cover though, so I almost didn't recognise it! It sounds really good, though I don't have time to do the Paris in July challenge, sadly. Hope you have a great week.

  5. Lessons in French looks like a good book for the Paris in July Challenge! I just finished reading Paris Letters. I'm afraid I'm not a French cook...at least I've never cooked any French food, so I'll have to settle for books. This had made me think that maybe I could pick up a French cookbook somewhere and try something....?

    1. I am not the greatest either lol! I am going to give a recipe from Rachel Khoo a whirl, we will see how it tuns out. :) I would say, give it a try! The worst that can happen is that you will have to order takeout. :)

  9. I'm curious about The Road to Burgundy- will be adding that one to my list I think. Glad you had a great weekend- we did too, and the weather was nice for the 4th of July. These long weekends go by too fast!

Great post on the Eastern Market BTW- never been there but heard about it. The food trucks sound great- anything with a name like Aloha Mr. Hand I want to try!
