The Sunday Post/It's Monday! What Are You Reading?

Check out the The Caffeinated Book Review for the Sunday Post
It's Monday! What Are You Reading is hosted by Kathryn at Book Date

Happy Mother's Day! It is a beautiful day here near the D, and we spent quite a bit of it outside. I hope everyone is enjoying their weekends, we have had a great one.

Read Last Week:

So my husband did still work a bagillion hours last week, but by Thursday he was done, thank goodness. Yay!  Pretty soon we will all be back to our normal routines.

The Marvelous Misadventures of Ingrid Winter by J.S. Drangshot: This was a pretty entertaining read. Ingrid sure is quirky, with a crazy imagination! I feel inspired now though, to read Astrid Lindgren.

Reading This Week:

I think. I have had this for at least a week and I haven't picked it up yet. And we are going to the library today. So I guess we will see what happens - I may find something else that strikes my fancy!

Watching:

The Durrells, The Handmaid's Tale (soo good!), iZombie, Twin Peaks, The Good Witch.

How about all of you? What is happening with you?

    1. I am in the middle of trying to just minimize my stuff and have a simpler life. It's kind of nice to shed some belongings!

  2. Hope you had a great Mothers Day! The weather is finally getting nice ha ha. The Marvelous Misadventures looks fun...

I haven't watched any of the Handmaid's Tale yet. Oh and I saw your question on my Post last week about Glitch and The Returned- sorry! Both are available on netflix. The Returned (French version) especially is quite eerie. :)

  3. I am hooked on The Handmaid's Tale on Hulu...even though I saw the movie in the 90s, with Natasha Richardson, and read the book twice.

Ingrid Winter sounds like a great character.

Enjoy your week, and here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES

    1. I didn't know there was another movie! I will have to watch it. I've read the book, only once though, and I loved it. And I am loving this Hulu production, although it is frightening!

      It was a fun book!

  5. Always nice to hold options open as you are about to open another book! I remember reading a book of the Durrells as a teen and as you are watching the TV series I am guessing its good.

    1. I was feeling a little meh about reading Strange right now - I think I am just not in the mood.. maybe this fall. It feels like a fallish read to me. Lol.

I want to read the books! I am having a hard time finding them at the library, I think I will have to break down and buy them. I love love love the tv series. :)

  6. I'm glad you had a great Mama's Day. Ooh, I'll be interested in reading about your cherry clafoutis. I haven't had that before. I gave some cherries away yesterday and today; I was honestly surprised at what big smiles I got from the recipients! I'm glad my act of kindness brought some extra sunshine into their day. I don't eat fish tacos often. They were really good.

    1. Ooo it is so good! And easy!! Aw that is so sweet of you to give away your produce. I am really into this whole local food, sharing with your community type of lifestyle. That fits right in. And you made them happy! What could be better? :)

  7. Glad you had a good weekend and hubby is home a lot more now :)

I haven't been watching very much tv at all, but am always open to new Netflix suggestions. I did read The Handmaid's Tale long, long ago, so maybe I'll start that one.

My daughter suggested I try a Laini Taylor book so I was thinking of that new one, I don't know. Is the Ingrid Winter book based on the author of Pippi Longstocking (Lindgren)? Now you have me curious... my elder daughter loved the Pippi movie and the books when she was young.

    1. Thanks Rita! Yes, I really hate when he has to work like that. Poor guy. He works so hard, and I miss him! Lol.

I read the book and loved it, and while the tv series deviates a bit, I think it is excellent. So scary!

I really liked the Daughter of Smoke and Bone series - especially the short novella that went with it, Night of Cake and Puppets. :) It is not based on the Pippi Longstocking books, but the author references Lindgren a few times. I never knew she had written other books, other than the Pippi books.
