It's Monday! What Are You Reading?

It's Monday, What Are You Reading? is a weekly meme hosted by Sheila at Book Journey, that is guaranteed to add to your reading list.

I missed last week's link up due to some issues with my senior English Setter, Penny. She is recovering very well, thank goodness.

I had also thought I was going to be able to handle two blogs. After giving it a shot, I decided just to merge my new blog with this one, and this blog will expand to include more general posts about my life as well. I was already kind of sorta doing that anyway, I think.

Read Last Week:

Little Women: Still working on it.

Snow Angel Cove by RaeAnne Thayne: Fun holiday read in a great setting.

The Lodge on Holly Road by Sheila Roberts: Ditto. Lol. But I did like the Thayne book more.

Reading This Week:

Little Women: Will continue reading. I love this book so much!
In Your Dreams by Kristan Higgins: Aww that little puppy!!
The Heart of Christmas by Brenda Novak: Yet another holiday romance. I admit it, I am an addict!

Did Not Finish:

The Remedy for Love by Bill Roorbach: Wow, I didn't want to give up on this, but I just couldn't finish it. For me, it started off really strong, but is bogged down in the middle so much, I can't stand it. I might skip all the way to the end just to see what ended up happening but will skip the pages that would be take me there.

  1. Good to know your dog is better, horrible when pets get ill. I loved the Kristin Higgins book, I tried RaeAnne Thayne for one book and just didn't get into it. I have done exactly what you did with that last book with some of the books I have started reading. Too many books out there that are great to waste the time!

    1. Thanks! She is doing so much better. We still have a little ways to go with her, but I think she will be fully recovered soon. :) I really loved the Kristan Higgins book too! It was so good, plus I love all the animal stuff she includes. I agree, too many books out there to spend reading one you don't really like! :)

  2. I want to read In Your Dreams and I still need to finish Snow Angel Cove and The Heart of Christmas. I really like RaeAnne Thayne's Hope's Crossing novels but I struggled with this one a little bit so I put it aside. I am in the mood for holiday reading though. I am planning to reread Skipping Christmas soon.

I'm glad your dog is feeling better. Have a great week!

    1. I really like the Hope's Crossings books too! I actually missed it in this one, although Haven Point grew on me. :) I love all these holiday reads, and now that there is snow on the ground here (already!) I feel like reading them even more.

      Thanks!

  3. Glad your dog is feeling better!

I haven't read Little Women since I was a kid... really need to give my adult self a chance to enjoy it, too.

    1. Thanks! She is doing really well! She is a little bummed out in spirit though, now that she can't jump up on the couch. :( Otherwise, she is well on her way to recovery. :)

I am looking forward to what my book club thinks about reading Little Women again. I think it gave me a different perspective on everyone. :)

  4. Glad to hear your dog is better. I don't know how people can run more than one blog. I've thought about it - but then thought no. Enjoy your books!

    1. Thanks! Oh my gosh, I don't know how they do it either! For me, it was a short-lived, failed experiment. Lol.

  5. I'm so happy that Penny continues to get better. Whew, we sure have to keep an eye on our aging pets :) Mine always give me a run for our money (our most senior citizen is a 19 year old cat who is like the energizer bunny-- despite senility, deafness and a either a benign or cancerous tumor in her sinuses (too old for surgery)-- she is still enjoying her life. My dogs are all getting up there in years also, and we lost our 14 year old dog this month :(

I have the Roberts book which I won in a giveaway, but haven't read it, and I like the look of Ms. Thayne's books but haven't picked them up yet. I enjoyed Little Women last month, but of course it will read differently than say, a holiday romance, so maybe you need to put it aside and pick it up later. Not saying DNF, just saying give it a break and come back at it another day. I also wanted to pick up The Remedy for Love but doesn't sound like I should at this point.

Thanks for all your book news (and enjoy your non-book news also) and hope you are past the morning sickness phase. My not-so-secret weapons: flat ginger ale (get quality soda with real ginger in it) and a box of water crackers.

    1. We really do. Right now, we have to set up all these little areas for Penny to lay down. She can't jump onto the couch right now, which she has tried when my back was turned, so I have to turn all the cushions down when I am not in the room to prevent her from trying. I also have all these little bedding areas, which she is not too pleased about since she is spoiled but I guess they will do in a pinch, because after a while she will deign to lie down on one. Lol. But she is worth all the extra work. :) Sounds like you have a houseful as well! I am sorry to hear about your 14 year old dog, that is always so hard. :(

The Roberts book was cute! It was extremely predictable, but for some reason I don't mind that in a romance novel. Lol. Maybe I have weirdly low expectations for them? Little Women is definitely one I am taking my time with. I am sure after Thanksgiving I will really dive into it, but for now I am reading it here and there.

The Roorbach book: I tried so hard! I can only read about two pages at a time before falling asleep, being bored to tears, or annoyed. Lol. I wish I could say I will go back to it, but I know I won't. I also feel like the author is talking down to the reader somewhat.

Thanks! I am doing pretty good in terms of morning sickness. I am at 18 weeks, and seem to be feeling much better. I do have occasional bouts of food aversion though. I will be hungry but food will sound gross. Then I have to make myself eat. :( I will keep the flat ginger ale in mind though, that sounds like it could still be useful! :)

  7. Little women! It must be YEARS since I first read that book, it's one I really must reread sometime. I like the look of In Your Dreams too, looks a nice read for this season.

  8. The Remedy for Love looks good. I loved the snowed-in cabin. Is that the trick? :)

ENJOY all your books and your reading week.

  11. I read a book by Sheila Roberts recently, The Nine Lives of Christmas. It was good- not my usual kind of read, but a nice holiday story. I'm happy to hear your dog is okay, that's a great story of how you adopted her- and what a thing to go through. Thankfully it's not too serious. That picture at the end is priceless.

I love hearing from people, don't be shy! I would love to hear what you think! I always reply back, although it takes me a bit longer these days due to the little guy.
