It's Monday! What Are You Reading?


It's Monday, What Are You Reading? is a weekly meme hosted by Sheila at Book Journey, that is guaranteed to add to your reading list.

I hope everyone had a fabulous Halloween!! Ours was very cold and wet here in the Detroit area, which made me sad for the kids trick-or-treating. We did have some tough kids braving the elements though, and I rewarded them with handfuls of candy. 

Last week was a total bust for reading! I came down with my usual seasonal bronchitis, which triggered an asthma flare, that resulted in an ER visit in the wee hours of the morning. I even had a job interview to go to that day as well, which was not my best interview ever, for obvious reasons. In between sleeping on the couch and watching Gilmore Girls, I had homework to do and a test to study for. I did manage to rally though, for the Kim Harrison book signing of The Witch with No Name, the final book in The Hollows series. I am looking forward to a slower and healthier week this week!

I am almost embarrassed to admit that I have been exclusively reading Hamish Macbeth, but it was definitely a week for comfort reading!

The Tenant of Wildfell Hall by Anne Bronte: It seems a good time to start working on my Classics Club list again.

Little Women by Louisa May Alcott: I picked this for our November book club. I am going to start now!

Death of a Prankster by M.C. Beaton: Just for some balance.

    Was Halloween something or what? It was in the 30's over here and blustery- probably the same way there. We ventured out and froze our tails off. LOL. Sorry to hear about the bronchitis, that's no fun.

    The Hamish MacBeth books look good, like those covers.

      Omg it was horrible! Same weather for sure - 30 degrees, rainy, windy - it was crazy weather for sure! I am glad to hear you still ventured out though in true Halloween pioneer spirit! :)

    This is a good time of year to read Little Women. One of my favorite classics.

    Never apolgise for loving Hamish Macbeth.

    I only recently discovered that the TV series I loved and adored a decade ago was actually based on a series of books. They have now become MY comfort reads too :-)

      Haha thanks Brona!! I was feeling guilty, maybe, for only reading Hamish. But I won't be now - I will read them and be proud! I love the show too, although it is not the same as the books.

    I hope you are feeling better this week. The Tenant of Wildfell Hall surprised me. I think Anne Bronte was ahead of her time - enjoy!

    Sometimes we all need not just a comfort read, but a comfort author binge! I've gone of certain author binges and read their books one after the other.
    I found your other blog and commented. Congrats on the baby again! Hope you are feeling better soon.

      Lol I am definitely on a comfort author binge! I am feeling cozy, snuggled down with my cozy mysteries and Hamish. :)

      Thanks Julie! I am feeling much better! :) I know, mine stays kind of abandoned until it gets cold outside. Then all of a sudden I feel like working on it a little. Lol. I love Little Women, it is a great winter time book. :)

    Comfort reads are a great thing, especially when you aren't feeling up to snuff. I hope you're feeling better now!
