It's Monday, What Are You Reading is a weekly meme hosted by Sheila at Book Journey where we share what we have read and what we are reading and see what everyone else is reading.
Read Last Week:
A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving. Beautiful and heartbreaking, one of my favorite books ever.
The Last Original Wife by Dorothea Benton Frank: I will admit it - I love Dorothea Benton Frank.
Reading This Week:
The Host by Stephanie Meyer: Out book club book for July.
Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams: I love Tennessee Williams. In college, I took a class that was half his work, the other half Henrik Ibsen, and I loved it. My friends and I just watched the movie Streetcar Named Desire with Marlon Brando (who was smoking hot in it) and I felt the need to reread the play. (movie review to come soon)
I hope you enjoy The Host. I think it is Meyer's best book. Come see what I did last week here. Happy reading this week!
ReplyDeleteI am starting to enjoy it more and more as I read. And it is definitely better than Twilight, I agree.
DeleteA Streetcar Named Desire is fantastic. Which other plays did you read in your class?
ReplyDeleteI love Streetcar Named Desire! We also read Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, The Glass Menagerie, and Suddenly Last Summer. We read Ghosts and A Dolls House by Ibsen.
DeleteI think I've read all of those Williams plays and A Doll House. They are all wonderful. Theatre and English double major here. :)
DeleteHooray for Owen Meany!! It's hands down one of the best books I've ever read :D
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
I heart Owen. :)
DeleteI'm reading The Last Original Wife this week! Have a great new week...and here's MY MONDAY READING POST
ReplyDeleteIt was good! I really enjoyed it. :)
DeleteI have the Last Original Wife on kindle to read in August, will try to concentrate on "beach reads" then. Owen Meany, wasn't that made into a movie? I know, the books are always better, but I think I know the storyline and I didn't read it yet. For some reason, it is not a new book but it was trending on Amazon sales a couple of weeks ago. Enjoy your week of reading!
ReplyDeleteSimon Birch was the movie inspired by Owen Meany. :) I really enjoyed The Last Original Wife!
DeleteThe Host was interesting - I liked that she wrote it solely from the perspective of an alien, and an invader.
ReplyDeleteI've never seen (or read) A Streetcar Named Desire; never covered much American lit etc. at uni, actually. At the time I was more interested in Australian lit! Shame you can't study everything isn't it?! ;)
At first, I was skeptical of The Host. I really don't like to read alien stuff. But, the book grew on me, and I really loved it. I was rooting for Wanda and Ian!
DeleteI don't know much about Australian Lit at all! It would be great if we could study everything, I would love that!
Oh, I really need to read Owen Meany, don't I? I haven't read The Host yet either. I know I will like both of those, too. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteOwen is one of my favorite books ever! :) And I liked The Host a ton better than I thought I would. :)
DeleteI have Owen Meany sitting on my shelf. I need to read it!
ReplyDeleteYou will be so glad you did!
DeleteEnjoy your books!
ReplyDeleteTHANKS for stopping back to visit my blog.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day.
