It's Monday, What Are You Reading is a weekly meme hosted by Sheila at Book Journey where we share what we have read and what we are reading and see what everyone else is reading.
I had the best weekend. Friday morning, my mother and I went to a lavender festival - and my favorite part was the lavender lemonade! On Saturday, my husband and I went canoeing with my brother and his wife, and followed the trip up with visiting the nearby local breweries. On Sunday, I went with a friend to a weird art movie called Augustine. Although weird, we had many laughs afterwards.
Read Last Week:
I have a few "still readings"on my list.
A Prayer For Owen Meany by John Irving - I have read this book so many times, and every time, I feel it affects me differently. I love it so much. I am dividing time between this and Main Street.
Main Street by Sinclair Lewis: Still plugging away.
Summer Breeze by Nancy Thayer: For the moments I needed a breather from the other two.
Reading this Week:
Beachcombers by Nancy Thayer: Because I need some summer reading mixed in with Owen and Main Street!
Reviews Last Week:
The Night is Alive by Heather Graham
Also, my June Book Club post is up!
This week, we have a book club movie night - so no book, just Streetcar Named Desire. I am in love with Tennessee Williams. We have actual book club next week.
I also won a $100 gift certificate to Amazon.com courtesy of NetGalley's Wellness Challenge! Woohoo!
I hope you have all had a wonderful week!
Lavender lemonade! That sounds incredibly refreshing. I could use some of that to combat this disgusting heat :)
ReplyDeleteI finished Owen Meany this evening. As you saw on Twitter :) SO GOOD!!!!
Enjoy your books and have a FAB week!
It was so refreshing! I need to figure out how to make it. The heat here is swampy and disgusting, I can't stand it!
DeleteI am soo glad you loved Owen Meany!
The lavender festival sounds like fun. I love the scent of lavender.
ReplyDeleteA Prayer for Owen Meany is a great book for rereading. I've only read it twice but I agree that you do get something from it each time you reread.
You really do. I can't handle the Meany family this time around. They are making me so sad!
DeleteSounds like you had a fun week. I have never read A Prayer for Owen Meany. It looks like I should add it to my stack. Come see what I read last week at Inside of a Dog. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteIt is such an amazing book. :)
DeleteThe beach reads sound fun; the others remind me too much of required reading.
ReplyDeleteLol they kind of are! Well at least Main Street is. I have been wanting to read more classics, so I am working on that goal. :) Owen Meany is an old fave since high school. I feel in love with John Irving back then. And the beach goods are super fun, I am enjoying Nancy Thayer.
DeleteOh dear I still haven't read A Prayer for Owen Meany - in fact I have several of Irving's books and I haven't read any of them yet! I have a few authors like that, ones I keep buying books by but never getting around to reading. It's terrible really.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on winning your prize! I didn't enter that challenge, I'm rather ashamed of how backed-up I am on Netgalley and I didn't think I had the time to do much about it, but it sounded like a good challenge. Thanks for visiting me, and hope you have a great week! :)
Thanks! I get so backed-up with NetGalley as well - I had to start only requesting one book at a time because I just couldn't read all the ones I would request in the time limit given. So I understand that. Lol.
DeleteI enjoy Nancy Thayer's books-- I plan on reading one or two next month when I try to concentrate on "summer beach reads" instead of some of the heavier or gorier stories I do read.
ReplyDeleteoff topic-- I envy you the Lavender Festival. I know they have them in Oregon but didn't know Michigan did too. I ordered lavender green tea from some farm on the west coast. I am east coast and don't know of any lavender around here.
The Lavender Fest was fun! Unfortunately, there weren't rolling hills of lavender as my mom and I imagined. :( But there are a few lavender farms in Michigan, so we are planning on visiting one or two this summer. Lavender green tea sounds awesome!
DeleteI should give Main street a try, I've never read Sinclair Lewis. I imagine it's a little hard to get through but rewarding if you stick with it. Lavender festival- yay Michigan!!
ReplyDeleteIt was a bit of struggle at first to get into Main Street, but it is picking up for me. :)
DeleteI still haven't read A Prayer for Owen Meany - I'm relatively sure it's in my TBR bookshelf here - I'll have to look for it and pull it on out. The festival sounds like fun! Glad you had a great week!
ReplyDeleteWow contrags! I remember when the wellness challenge started I wanted to enter, but lazyness stop me haha
ReplyDeleteLavender Lemonade sounds wonderful and even more wonderful to be with your mom.
ReplyDeleteENJOY your week.
