The Sunday Post/It's Monday! What Are You Reading?

Check out the The Caffeinated Book Review for the Sunday Post
It's Monday! What Are You Reading is hosted by Kathryn at Book Date!

Brrrrrrrrrrrr!!! The cold weather has set in, and winter has showed its teeth in Michigan finally. Saturday we huddled inside keeping warm and being lazy, which was quite fun. I made soup, we read, we watched television - it was a good day. Today we ventured out a little, meeting my stepmom for coffee, then later on tonight, we are going to my brother's for dinner with him and his family. I am looking forward to it.

I also started a second blog, where I talk about other things - its more of a lifestyle/my life blog. You can check it out here if you are interested.

Currently Reading:

I am in the middle of two books right now, and I expect to finish them in just a day or two.

The Bear and the Nightingale (Netgalley): I am loving this book! I am halfway through and I think about it when I am not reading it. Although, I do think it is contributing to my feeling so cold...
Landline by Rainbow Rowell: I love Rainbow Rowell, and this book hasn't disappointed so far. I can't figure out yet how it will end! Always a good thing. It's a good book to balance out The Bear and the Nightingale.

Next up:

A Darkness Absolute (Netgalley): I can't wait to start this! I loved City of the Lost, and I am really excited to see where Armstrong goes with this series.

Currently Watching:

We just finished Longmire, now we have the long wait until next season...nooooo! I am also watching a few lighthearted shows - Drop Dead Diva, and Fresh Off The Boat. We are also watching Veronica Mars, which we love!! I didn't watch it when it first came out and it's fun to revisit that time frame. Lol. We are also going to start watching Sherlock very soon. As for reality shows, we are watching Top Chef and Alone. One of the contestants on Alone has a fantastic looking shelter. I kind of want her to build it in my backyard for me just to hang out and read in! Wyatt likes to watch a little Daniel Tiger in the morning, or to change it up, The Backyardigans.

  1. I've recently watched the first season of Veronica Mars for the first time and was quite surprised how much I liked it!

    1. It really is! On days we watch Backyardigans, I sing the little songs all day long!

    2. That is amazing how Wyatt sleeps in until 8 a.m. My girls used to wake up early when they were small. Now they're like slugs because they tend to go to bed late on the weekends. The tween stays up reading every night. My little one can sleep 11 hours from when her head hits the pillow.

  3. Yeah it's freezing here now- can winter be over?? Sounds like a great Saturday. I did venture out to the mall briefly and with the blowing and drifting snow- not fun. Ooh A darkness Absolute- I can't WAIT to hear how that is (and to read it)- loved City of Lost.

I love The Backyardigans (Tiki Beach!!) but don't tell anyone. :)

  4. We are still having a bit of Lake effect snow, hopefully it will stop tomorrow! Looking forward to A Darkness Absolute too! I've got a few more episodes of Longmire, slowed down watching 'cause I don't want it to be over!

    1. We did the same thing, really slowed down as we started to run out of episodes. Then we waited at least a week before diving into that last one. Now, I am sad. I miss Walt and Henry and Cady and the rest.

  6. Ooo... Glad you're enjoying Landline. It's the only book I've read by Rainbow Rowell, and I absolutely adore it; I'm aiming to reread it later on this year.

    Happy reading!

    1. I wasn't sure at first how I would like it! Elements of time travel sometimes don't sit right with me - but I am loving it in this book. :)

  7. Your weekend sounds a lot like ours, right down to the soup! It looks like it will warm up a little here as the week progresses, but I'm hoping we head south before that. I've only read one Rainbow Rowell book (Eleanor & Park) and really liked it. Seems like a lot of people are thanking about The Bear & the Nightingale now.

    1. Soup is just the perfect cold weather food. Plus, I just love soup! I have a whole Pinterest board dedicated to it. Lol.

I was surprised to see Landline in the the regular fiction area of my library and not YA - I didn't realize that it was intended for adults. It's pretty good! I really liked Eleanor and Park too.

The Bear and the Nightingale is so far, very good. I have hit that part of the book where if you were just kind of reading it before, now you have to read it, if that makes sense. I am so drawn into the story and characters and I feel bad, I almost can't wait for naptime today so that I can read it. Lol.
