It's Monday! What Are You Reading?

It's Monday! What Are You Reading is hosted by Kathryn at Book Date!

Last week was a rough one for me; one of the roughest I have had in a very long time, personally and emotionally. But this week is a new week, with a new frame of mind. Book club is the week too, I am really excited about it. I can't wait! Except, I am a terrible book clubber this month - I didn't read the book!! I am going to try to read it before Thursday, but it sounds so intense and I am not in a good place for that kind of book right now. But I will give it a whirl. We are reading Mischling by Affinity Konar.

Read Last Week:

A Darkness Absolute was amazing!! Just as good as I had anticipated and heard.

Me Before You by JoJo Moyes - so I have somehow made it this far without having heard anything about this book. I mean, I have heard about the author, her books and such, but nothing beyond that she is awesome. I came across this book in a free book bin and grabbed it up, not knowing what I was in for! I was loving this book, then I found out the end. I don't think I can do it, y'all! So I am stopping where I am, and respect that this book is awesome, but I can't do it. I'm just too weepy these days!

Reading This Week:

Watching:

Fresh Off the Boat, Veronica Mars, Top Chef, How to Get Away With Murder, The Goldbergs, Alone, Emerald City

Now, I am off for some wine and chocolate!!

  1. I am so glad to hear A Darkness Absolute was good! I can't WAIT to return to Rockton and get back into that story. Sucktown, Alaska I know nothing about but with a title like that I'll be checking it out. :)

Have a great week and enjoy the wine & chocolate!

    1. It was awesome! I really love the world she has created with Rockton! I know, I had to request that book - you can't pass up a title like that. Lol.

I also read your comment on my other blog. I really appreciate the words! It was a tough day!

  2. Do hope this week is so much better for you. I did love Me Before You, but can respect that you are letting it be. While it was sad it was somehow fun as well. I never did go to see the moive though.

    1. Thanks Kathryn. Me too! Lol. I really love the characters - I think that is why I know I will sob like a baby. Louisa and Will are both pretty awesome.

  3. The Jojo Moyes book really makes you think about situations like that; it's so easy for us to judge immediately, but until one actually walks a mile in his/her shoes, will it not seem so black and white. I'm sorry you had such a rough week :O(. I hope you were able to decompress somehow. Hugs to you, girl.

  4. The movie of Me Before You made me sob (even more than the book)...so I can relate to not wanting the emotional roller coaster ride.

I can't wait until How to Get Away with Murder begins again (for us, this Thursday).

Enjoy your week...hope it is better than last. Here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES

  7. OK, now you have me totally guessing about the end of Me Before You. Haha.

    1. Lol!! Well, the main character was hit by a motorcycle, paralyzing him from mid-chest down, leaving him a quadriplegic. Before the accident, he had led a daredevil, active lifestyle. Now that he is unable to even care for himself, he has promised his mother that he will give her 6 months, but then would like them to respect his wishes to die peaceful and with dignity.

  8. Sorry to hear about your week. Sometimes things just keep piling up and make everything difficult and unpleasant. Hope this week treats you better.
Sucktown, Alaska seems like something I might like.
    Happy reading!

I love hearing from people, don't be shy! I would love to hear what you think! I always reply back, although it takes me a bit longer these days due to the little guy.
