The Sunday Post/It's Monday! What Are You Reading?

Check out the The Caffeinated Book Review for the Sunday Post
It's Monday! What Are You Reading is hosted by Kathryn at Book Date

I think I am starting to get my bearings with my new schedule - where to fit in school and work back into my life smoothly. I haven't gotten the kinks all out but we are getting closer.

This morning is crisp and cool and so totally autumn. I have been waiting for this weather for a month now. My sweet boy is still sleeping, and my husband left early to go to a ham radio swap meet with a friend. Right now, it is me, the cats and this cup of tea.

Read Last Week:

Betrayals by Kelley Armstrong: I devoured this book. I am so sad it is over!!! This series just keeps getting better and better and now I have to wait for the next book.

Harmony by Carolyn Parkhurst: This book was really good as well. I am still processing it and what I think about it.

Reading This Week:

The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian by Sherman Alexie: Last week on the blog I shared an article written by Alexie about Tonto. I had heard of Alexie, but that was the first I had read him. I am looking forward to reading this one- I have heard so much about it, and I know it has even been banned/challenged before, so I need to look into that too.

City of the Lost by Kelley Armstrong: I figured I was all caught up on Cainesville now, so I may as well begin this new series by Armstrong. I am looking forward to this one as well!

Slow Read:

I am doing a slow read, one that I am taking my time with. It is really good actually, and makes me want to get outside and hike and camp! I love hiking, but camping usually gets a big No Thanks from me. Cabins are more my speed..but this book kind of makes me want to sleep in a tent. Just a little.

Watching:

Not much right now! My husband is watching Live Free or Die, a National Geographic or Discovery (one of the two) reality show about people who live off the grid. Together we have been watching Death in Paradise, a BBC crime show that takes place in the Caribbean. Little man loves the theme song and bops along to it when he hears it. He also does that for The Office theme too, lol.

  1. I liked City of the Lost! Hope you do too. I'll definitely be reading the next one of that series. And I hear you on camping- I love to hike especially up north, but camping. Not so much ha ha. We've rented cabins a few times though and those are fun.

Today is absolutely gorgeous- love this weather.

Those shows both sound good, I may have to look for Live Free or Die.

    1. Yeah, sleeping in a tent on the ground? I just don't see the point. Lol.

Live Free or Die is National Geographic for sure - I just looked it up. It has a very interesting premise, I just can't handle some of the hunting scenes. :(

  2. I've never, ever read a book by Kelly Armstrong. I don't know what's wrong with me because I've seen her books everywhere but I don't really know why I've never picked them up. Maybe someday :)

    1. I like the Cainsville series so much more than her previous work. I feel like her actual writing has improved with this new series as well. :) They are fun reads.

    1. It was a pretty good week! I had been wanting to read Harmony, which was a quick read, but is a book that sticks with you too.

  4. Glad the new schedule is working out... and I'm happy about fall inching closer, too - my favorite season! The Sherman Alexie book has been on my radar forever. Can't wait to hear what you think of it.

  6. It looks like you had a good week last week, reading and otherwise, so I hope that continues this week. The cover of Harmony is rather haunting... I'll have to look in to that title.

It starting to feel like autumn here also, and I couldn't be happier!

    1. It was pretty good! Like The Girls in the Garden though, it had some things I didn't care for or feel they were resolved.

      Yay for fall!!

  7. Hmm cool crisp morning and a cuppa and quiet - sounds great. I wish you many more moments like that! Harmony cover draws me in and I had a peek over at Goodreads. Fascinating.

  8. Those Kelley Armstrong books look really good. I'm always scared when I see a dog on the cover, though. :)

  9. People who live off of the grid are fascinating to me. I've followed a few homesteaders on IG and it's interesting to see their way of life. You read a lot this week. Great job. I'm so behind on my posts. I have so much to with party planning this week and trying to get in daily exercise. I love how Wyatt loves French toast. It's cute to imagine eating it and getting maple syrup all over his face.

  10. I've said it before - I really need to read a Kelley Armstrong! I love that cover too. Reminds me of Cujo the old movie. :)

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog earlier this week. :)

I love hearing from people, don't be shy! I would love to hear what you think! I always reply back, although it takes me a bit longer these days due to the little guy.
