It's Monday! What Are You Reading?

It's Monday! What Are You Reading is hosted by Kathryn at Book Date

This week was a looooonnngg week. Wyatt is getting his back molars and has woken us up every night for a few hours - which is not fun for any of us. :( Poor kid. We are a bit sleep deprived over here. Hopefully these suckers come in soon!

We have a fun week planned - well kind of planned. It is Billy's birthday Thursday and he is taking Thursday and Friday off of work. Not sure what we are going to do, but I am looking forward to seeing where the days take us.

Read Last Week:

I read a bunch of books but didn't finish any. I couldn't focus on just one for some reason. Maybe exhaustion, lol. The books I picked at were-

The Drafter by Kim Harrison: This is the book I read the most of. I am actually really enjoying it, even though I wasn't sure I wanted to read it. I miss Rachel and The Hollows but Peri is slowly winning me over.

All Summer Long by Dorothea Benton Frank: So, I usually love Dottie's books. This one though, might be a miss for me. I just can't get into it for some reason. Although, I do totally covet a suit like the one on the cover.

Relish by Lucy Knisley: I am enjoying this book as well, it just happens to have the bad luck of being the book I try to read before bed - therefore, I read about 5 minutes of it a night.

The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson: I truly intended to read more of this! Maybe this week?

Reading This Week:

The Girls in the Garden by Lisa Jewell: I am so excited this came in! I have heard such good things about it, I can't wait to start it.

Watching:

Stranger Things - I love this show, very 80s and reminiscent of Stephen King. I just can't watch it before bed!

Community, Wrecked, Wayward Pines, Outlander are some other shows we have been watching.

What's been going on with you all?

  1. Poor Wyatt! Hope the molars come in soon.

I have had weeks where it is difficult to get into a book. I hope you enjoy The Unexpected Everything. I have The Girls in the Garden on my TBR pile. I started reading it but struggled to get into the story so I set it aside for now. I will come back to it eventually as it is a review book and I do want to know what happens.

    1. Thanks Christina!

I am sure I will enjoy it, if I can ever get to it! This week started off with a bang. Lol. I started Girls in the Garden and so far I like it. I am not that far into it yet thought.

  2. The Drafter looks action packed, and The Girls in the Garden is good (or at least I thought so)! I hope you like it...

Stranger Things is a trip, I don't usually get freaked out but that show has some chilling moments! Very 80's... :) and I need to watch the last two eps of Wayward Pines to see how it ends. Can't believe it's over!

    1. The Drafter is getting really good! It started off slowly for me but is picking up speed. So far, I am enjoying Girls in the Garden!

Yes! I used to never get freaked out, I don't know what happened to me. Lol. However, now I can't look.

O.M.G. Wayward Pines. Talk about starting slow then turning it around!!

  3. I know you've only just picked up the book, but I look forward to seeing what you think of The Girls in the Garden... Side note: I love the US cover edition compared to the UK!

I started Stranger Things on Netflix the day it came out and have already finished it... Ooops. I agree with all that you said regarding the show - I loved it! Great acting, great pacing, and a really good layered premise.

Happy reading - and I hope little ones teeth come in soon (teething is the worst!). Thankfully we've finished that stage now, but give it a couple of years and we'll be at the falling out stage!

    1. I know the cover is so pretty!! So far, I am really liking it.

LOL! Binge watching tv is so fun. We do that too. We are almost done with it too..lol. It came out of left field I think.. I hadn't heard anything about it, then bam, it was everywhere. I love it!

And thanks! The kid is so miserable! And us too. I am not looking forward to the falling out stage - dangly teeth kind of freak me out.

  5. I'm sorry Wyatt is suffering from those incoming teeth. I'm glad we are too young to remember that phase as I hear it's painful. Dorthea Benton Frank is on my list. I will move her up.

    1. Yes, I agree! Maybe that is why we get them when we are too young to remember.

I love her usually! This one is not the greatest imo, but it could be me. Lol.

  6. I am not looking forward to the start of teething with my little guy. Hopefully Wyatt's molars come in soon and he can be back to his normal, happy (and sleepy) self.

I love the cover of The Girls in the Garden, and I've heard good things about it, too. Hope you enjoy it!

    1. I will cross my fingers it is easy for your fellow! Wyatt hasn't really had too tough of a road with it, I have heard worse stories. These molars have been the hardest yet, they are just so big!

      Thanks!

  7. I want to read The Girls in the Garden (I have it somewhere, but it's not unpacked yet).
I read The Drafter, and while I never read this particular author before, I loved this unusual, quirky story!
Happy Birthday to Billy and good luck with the lack of sleep. Hope his teeth pop through soon.

    1. It is good so far, although granted, I am not that far into it yet.

I love Kim Harrison!! Her Hollows series is really fun. I am not the greatest with genres but I think they are urban fantasy? Lol.

      Thank you!

I love hearing from people, don't be shy! I would love to hear what you think! I always reply back, although it takes me a bit longer these days due to the little guy.
