It's Monday! What Are You Reading?

It's Monday! What Are You Reading is hosted by Kathryn at Book Date

Woo this heat!! It looks like a lot of the United States is experiencing this heat wave - I am not a fan! I know some people who are ok with high temps, but I am a girl who values temps that don't rise above 85. Lol. We have been pretty much taking refuge in the air conditioning, and not venturing out until evening, like nocturnal creatures.

Read Last Week:

The Weekenders: I am so so close to the end of this book, and I just haven't had the time to finish it, which is making me crazy!! I very much enjoyed it.

Reading This Week:

I am really excited to start both of these!

Posted Last Week:

Watching:

Wayward Pines, The Tour de France (over today!). We are about to start Stranger Things, I have heard some good stuff about it!

  1. "like nocturnal creatures" lol. So true- this heat has been tough. Hard to even go outside today and yesterday. Anything over mid 80's, or excessive humidity, and I'm not having fun. :)

I am liking Wayward Pines, and I liked Stranger Things too!

    1. Oh man, it's been so crazy! I open the front door and I am almost like, forget it! Lol.

We just caught up on Wayward Pines and are probably going to start Stranger Things tonight - I think it looks fun. And back to WP - what the heck!! That last revelation!!

  4. I've been noticing The Unexpected Everything around...and I'm curious. I love Mary Kay Andrews, and The Weekenders is on my list.

Enjoy your week...and I wish our temps would not rise about 85...sigh. 90s are a cooling trend here, but the triple digits will be back all this week, with 106 on Wednesday. Yikes!

I don't know why I'm surprised...it's always like this. One year it went up to 114-115 for 10 days in a row. That was unusual.

Enjoy your week, and here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES

    1. OMG 106! :( Take refuge in the A/C, drink lots of water..heat can be so brutal! My dad is currently in Texas and he said the heat is horrendous there right now as well.

I read Since You've Been Gone and really loved it, so I am looking forward to the Unexpected Everything. Matson is a fun author. And I love Mary Kay Andrews too! The Weekenders was perfect to hole up inside with.

  5. I've been staying in my air conditioned space this week too. I'm not even venturing out in the relatively cooler evenings. It makes for lots of reading time though. Come see what my week was like here. Happy reading!

    1. Stay cool for sure! And it is the perfect excuse for reading - it is just too hot to do much else!

  6. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one going nocturnal - yesterday, I waited until the sun went down to venture out for groceries :) I just picked up The Unexpected Everything today, and I'm excited to start it! I read Since You've Been Gone last summer and it was a perfect summer read, so I"m hoping TUE will be the same way.

    1. Lol!! Yep, me too! It is just too hot during the day to do much of anything.

I really loved Since You've Been Gone! I agree, it was a perfect summer read. I've heard good things about TUE, so I have high hopes. It seems like the perfect read for this weather too.

  7. Oh boy, you said it. It was hot and the house fan was on. It was a bit hard to sleep last night. It's only getting hotter this week *grumbles*.

    1. I knew I forgot to add something. I'm next in line for The Weekenders. Looking forward to reading that. I had bought one of Mary Kay Andrews' books for my mum last Christmas and she fell in love with her through her Hissy Fit.

    2. :( I love summer but this summer is just too crazy hot. At least right now!

I loved The Weekenders! I think my favorite Mary Kay Andrews books are Savannah Breeze and Savannah Blues, although I love them all. She is definitely queen of summer reads in my opinion.

  8. Ah, we've been experiencing a heatwave here in the UK this past week, although it has since passed. I only mention it because what's interesting is how a temp of 85 would be just fine for you, and here that was our 'heatwave'. Haha! I don't know how some people cope with temperatures more than that! Although we don't have AC in homes and such, which made night times unbearable! Anyway, I'll stop being a typical Brit going on about the weather now!!

It looks like you've got a good week ahead of you with the books you've got lined up. Whilst I haven't read either of them myself, I've heard positive feedback about both titles. Happy reading!

    1. I am happiest with temps in the 70s, but if it wants to climb to 85 and be a really hot summer day occasionally, I can deal with that. This high 90s stuff is a nightmare - and with the heat index it's even hotter! :( Like you though, when temps soar I think of the people who live in hotter climates and am amazed! My sister-in-law loves this weather though - I told her she is not human. Lol.

Thanks! I plan on staying indoors, playing with my son and reading this week. Just one more errand to run and we are done!

  9. It's winter here in Australia. The days have been wet, cold and windy. Would love some sun and a temp of 85 just to remember what it feels like.
    Enjoy your week!

    1. I know so many people who loved it - hopefully there will be a season 2! I haven't watched season 1 yet, but I am sure I will like it. Lol.

  11. We've actually been fairly cool in the Pacific Northwest, but the heat wave is supposed to hit us this week. Thank goodness for A/C!

  12. I'm not a fan of high temps either, but mine beat yours-- a few days of up to 109! Well, now we are back down to the high 90s, yay, lol! Of course this is our "hibernate season", much like folks who live up north might hide inside when they have a blizzard or temps below 10 degrees. Our other 3 seasons are lovely.

I like the covers of all your books, but haven't heard of them. May Kay Andrews always has covers that pull me in-- she is aware of how many readers have "cover lust" issues :)

Enjoy your week, and hope you get to read a good book...

    1. Omg - awful!!!! I really wouldn't have gone outside at all. I can see how the high 90s would be an improvement!! I am a weird midwesterner - I go outside more when it is cold and below zero than I do when it is above 90! I am not made for heat I guess.

I love MKA, and you are right - she has spectacular covers!

I love hearing from people, don't be shy! I would love to hear what you think! I always reply back, although it takes me a bit longer these days due to the little guy.
