Random 5 Friday

Random 5 Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Nancy at A Rural Journal.

1.  I have a cold! Blech. I haven't wanted to do much of anything after work besides sleeping, reading, and watching tv. When  I am sick, I turn to comfort books. This week I started reading a slew of Christmas romances, and have been devouring them like candy. This is the one I am currently reading.

2.  Peppermint Mochas are back for the season! Yay! Something to celebrate for sure.

3.  It also snowed this week! I love snow, I was so happy to see it falling from the sky and covering everything in a blanket of white. It didn't stay long, but it was pretty while it lasted.

4. Billy and I went on an Owl Prowl last weekend at our favorite metro park. We walked around with a little group of people, and the interpreter Kevin, lured screech owls to us to see. It was really cool! We ended up seeing a cute little screech. Another interpreter made the origami owls above. I am impressed!

5. Its my school book fair next week, and I have been setting up for it all morning. I am really excited for the kids to visit!

  2. I love to read in the cold winter months too!!! Well, heck, I like to read anytime. And if you say it's like eating candy...that's great....no calories in book reading!! [even so, at least the paper is fiber...that's good for you....KIDDING!!]

    1. The owl prowl was very cool! Even if we don't see any, it is fun to tramp through the woods at night, listening for them.

  6. That looks like a good book to read. I hope you feel better soon, it's not fun having colds. I LOVE peppermint, it's my favorite kind of ice cream and tho I've not had it ever, peppermint mocha sounds like heaven.

    1. Yes! I try to limit my intake so that they always remain a treat, but I could seriously drink them every day. :) It was such a fun book, I think there is nothing happier than a Christmas romance. :)

  8. I really don't have much to add to your random 5 but I did enjoy reading them. I tend to read 'easy' books, too when I don't feel well. When I am sick cannot concentrate enough to take in a serious book. Besides, I like a bit of light reading mixed in with the other.

    1. Yes, exactly! I really enjoy Christmas romances for that kind of reading (near Christmas) because they are such happy books. :)

  9. Thanks for stopping by my blog. Interesting. I teach reading to at risk students at an elementary school, so that means I read all day, almost every day. I love the name of your blog.
