The Sunday Post/It's Monday! What Are You Reading?

Check out the The Caffeinated Book Review for the Sunday Post
It's Monday! What Are You Reading is hosted by Kathryn at Book Date

Hey all! Hope all is going well with you! This week the weather is supposed to be warm, what? It is so crazy. Temps to the low 60s even!  We have been busy trying to get outside more, get more fresh air and sunshine when we can. We have visited our local dairy farm, and two different trails the past two weekends. There is something for being outside during the winter - everything looks so different. We did see something cool yesterday. We saw a small group of deer, huddled together, swimming across the Detroit River to a small island that sits in the middle of the channel. Immediately following this sighting, an eagle swooped from the sky, practically at eye level! It was crazy cool! I have also been planning my son's 3rd birthday party that is in March. I can't believe he is turning 3 already - time certainly does fly. We are going with a gnome theme this year... :)

Read the last two weeks:

And loved them both!! I have been lucky, everything I have read this month so far has been fantastic. Although, I hate that cover for the John Green book. The colors. Bleh.

Reading This Week:

The Keeper of Lost Things. The description reminds me a bit of one of my favorite movies, Amelie.

Watching:

Top Chef, Grace and Frankie (yay new season!), The Crown season 2 (amazing!!), and Home Town on HGTV. We also I think are about to finish up Alias Grace. And of course Riverdale, but I am letting them build up a bit. It has seriously become one of my favorite shows.

What have you all been up to?

  1. What nature sights you see in MI. That's really cool. All I see are squirrels that freeze and think I don't see them, LOL, and hear the Canadian geese fly over. Plus I smell skunks time to time. That second installment of ACOTAR is freakin' awesome. TOTALLY didn't expect the twists. I loved it. It's a series I'm contemplating on buying the Kindle versions to have as rereads like my beloved Harry Potters and All Souls Trilogy.
I cannot believe Wyatt will be 3 years old in two months! I can't wait to see what theme you'll use this time.
I'm prepping sewing right now. I'm taking my time, using freezer paper to make a pattern for the pouches. But I want to start a sewing journal. I haven't found any I liked on Amazon so I'm going to create my own page and keep them in a binder. I have all these Post-It notes around and I've been using scrap cardstock to keep track of what I do.

    1. Lol it's usually not so nature documentary around here, but we do see our fair share of wildlife. Eagles for sure, but it is still always awe inspiring to see one just flying around. My husband actually saw two eagles fighting the other day!

I am so glad that I finally read this third book in the series - it was so good!! I had forgotten how much I enjoyed these characters and this world.

I think a sewing journal sounds like a wonderful idea! I love to chronicle everything. It's the historian/archivist in me. What a great idea to make and do your own the way you want it. :)

    2. I hear you on the blogging growing pains. One of the blogs I mentions blogs at least one day a day on Sundays; she usually features a video of music she likes and has us drool over the current sock yarn she's using.
Sometimes I have lots to say or report, and other times, eh...life has been ordinary and not much went on. It is what it is, yeah? I appreciate everyone's support and kind words.

  2. I liked Turtles, but I agree about the cover. So many people love it, but I always thought it was “meh.” It sounds like you saw some really cool nature things. There’s so much snow here that I haven’t seen many animals.

Aj @ Read All The Things!

    1. It is very meh. Lol. I loved the book to pieces though. I have anxiety and it was like, wow, someone actually found a way to convey what it is like!

Our snow is all gone. I think we are due for some more soon though. :)

  3. I've been wondering about Turtles All The Way Down. Maybe my first John Green? And that deer sighting sounds cool. Not to mention the eagle. I love nature like that. :) And you're right, everything is so different in the winter.

Nice to have Riverdale back, although I wasn't crazy about this weeks episode. Kinda lackluster. Still watching Longmire too...

    1. I absolutely loved it! Hmm. I love John Green, he is a favorite of mine, but while I loved this book, it was so well written, but I think I loved it because it spoke to me and my own anxiety. My husband's favorite John Green is Looking for Alaska which is maybe my second favorite, after The Fault in our Stars.

I was so wild to see that. I have never seen deer swimming across the Detroit River like that!

We didn't get to this week's yet. Hopefully it picks back up! And I love that you are still watching Longmire. :)

  4. I started A Court of Wings and Ruin but set it aside until I have a chance to read the books before it again. I was totally lost. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

    1. I felt that way at first too! Lol. I was like wait, what happened previously?? Lol. My husband caught me up to speed though, he read all of them more recently. :)

  5. I agree that the John Green cover is not all that attractive. The other covers though - love them both! Here's what I'm reading: http://justasecondblog.blogspot.com/2018/01/what-im-reading-january-22-2018.html

    1. Ugh I hate that. Sometimes I have to read an old favorite or just read magazines for a bit before I am out of a slump. But you are right, it is still fun to bop around and visit. :)

I love hearing from people, don't be shy! I would love to hear what you think! I always reply back, although it takes me a bit longer these days due to the little guy.
