The Sunday Post/It's Monday! What Are You Reading?

Check out the The Caffeinated Book Review for the Sunday Post
It's Monday! What Are You Reading is hosted by Kathryn at Book Date

We spent Halloween trick or treating with Wyatt's little cousin (my niece) and we had a blast! The sidewalks were filled with costumed children, parents, people outside. It was festive and and friendly and reminded me of the 1980s, when kids were always trick or treating. We even had to wait sometimes to get on porches, it was such a busy night. I loved it, and I know everyone else did too.

After the franticness of our October, we are easing into November slowly. And from all appearances, it looks like we will stay in this mode for quite a while. But that is ok - November is the perfect time to start hibernating at home all cozylike.

Read Last Week:

I picked this up on a whim from my review pile, and then found I couldn't put it down! It was so addictively good! I read way past my bedtime with this one. So good I actually gave it five stars on Goodreads. It caught me off guard with how good it was.

Reading This Week:

So far, I am in love. I have a thing for apples though. Lol.

I am also slow reading this one:

Wildwood by Roger Deakin I am occasionally in the mood for these nature nonfiction reads. I loved Meadowland last year, and this is reminiscent.

Watching:

Stranger Things, Outlander, Riverdale, and rewatching the Great British Bake Off.

How about all of you? How have you been?

    2. Your chorizo and eggs sound yummy. I like how Wyatt eats it.

  2. Our Halloween was like that, too, although not as surprising, since we live in a small town. The fire hall provides cider and donuts for everyone, and pretty much the whole town comes out. It's so much fun.

I love the cover of The Simplicity of Cider. Sounds very fall-ish!

    1. Our Halloweens have been sparse around here, with deserted streets devoid of trick or treaters. It was nice to have a year with everyone out and about.

I finished Cider - it was so good! I loved it!!

  4. Glad you had a nice Halloween. I grew up in the 80s but lived out in the country so we only went to the houses on our road. Here I saw a lot of trunk or treat events going on. In my hometown I saw a lot of trick or treaters braving the cold weather though.

I can't wait to read Kristan Higgins's new one. Good to hear you liked it! I really liked The Simplicity of Cider too. Did you read The Coincidence of Coconut Cake? I thought that was really good as well.

    1. Country living would be amazing, but definitely makes it harder to trick or treat! I know a lot of more rural areas bring their kids in to cities to trick or treat. We see a lot of buses lately driving kids in. :) Intrepid young trick or treaters in your area, braving the cold for their candy. Gotta love it!

So, both of those books were tops for me. I gave them both 5 stars, which is unusual. They were both fabulous! I did read Coconut Cake, and I enjoyed that one too. :)

  5. Agree about November- time to settle in and start prearing for the feasting lol. And I love the festive nature of Halloween too- and waiting in line on porches. Haven't seen that in ages (but love it)- our neighborhood's a little quieter so it's not like crazy busy like it was growing up. I also feel that way about the 80's.

Stranger Things and Riverdale will be consuming my TV watching this week, methinks. :)

    1. Haha yes. I haven't seen a Halloween like this in at least ten years. I was so glad to see all the people out and about. I also saw so many houses with bonfires in their firepits, sitting outside, socializing, handing out candy that way. It was pretty awesome, how everyone was so into it this year.

I imagine it will be!! I am glad to see you are out of the hospital and home again! I will be popping over to your blog momentarily.

  6. I’m glad you had an awesome Halloween. Sometimes I wish I had kids so I could go trick-or-treating with them.

    1. We had fun! Before I had the boy, we always gave out candy, and made a big deal out of it, decorating (not too scary) and dressing up. I'm such a Halloween fan. :)

  7. I love the look of The Simplicity of Cider. Now That You Mention It looks tempting.
