Check out the The Caffeinated Book Review for the Sunday Post!
It's Monday! What Are You Reading is hosted by Kathryn at Book Date
Last week was a no man's land of books and reading. Could this be a slump? Maybe I just needed a summer break. We had a pretty lazy week, which I think we needed. We've been running like crazy for a while now - it was good to just veg out. Maybe this week I will find the book that will get me reading again.
Read Last Week:
Er, the internet?
Reading This Week:
I need to find my mojo. It has also been so hot this weekend, it has zapped my will to do much of anything.
Posted Last Week:
Watched:
GoT (finale tonight! Noooo!), Community, Wayward Pines, Alone, Orange is the New Black, Penny Dreadful
Watched from my Summer Movies Project List:
National Lampoons Vacation, Meatballs, Addams Family Values
This is just the saddest little post this week. I will leave you with a photo instead of all this text.
I did put my hands back on my camera after 2 years of it gathering dust. I missed it! This is my little sunshine boy, enjoying some porch sitting.
I didn't read much last week either, just wasn't feeling it. LOL about reading the Internet- yeah that's about all I did too! And I am definitely excited (and a little bummed) to see the GoT finale tonight... what am I going to do until 2017 lol?
ReplyDeleteLol! I guess it still counts as reading, right? Lol. We didn't watch the finale last night but we are watching it tonight. I am excited but sad. And it is going to be a very long wait until next season. I read that Stephen King might be helping George R.R. Martin finish the books? See, the internet reading paying off.
DeleteI haven't read GoT or even watched it (once we ordered HBO but realized that they didn't offer the previous seasons, so we canceled it then). My niece loves SF/F and has read all the Martin books, but I'm not sure still. I'm glad for all the folks who love it though, that it has stayed interesting.
ReplyDeleteI understand the mojo thing. I lost mine a few weeks ago and was practically begging for title suggestions because I couldn't find anything to hold my interest. I think my problem was being under great stress then; your hot weather could be stressing you out. It sure does sap your energy if you're not used to it. This year is the summer of high temps for us here, and we've had our share of some triple digit days.
My solution to keeping my "good book streak" going is to change genres for a few weeks, so I'm reading a humorous essay book by Lisa Scottoline, then going to read some YA fantasy and small-town contemporary. It should be a good month coming up for me.
Enjoy your week, stay cool, and enjoy that little guy!
Yeah, it is definitely not a show you can just jump right into in the middle. I think if you have HBO Go or something like that you can get the older episodes. Or Amazon Prime? I only read a few of the books, they are pretty good though.
DeleteThat is how I feel! Like I pick up a book and I am just not interested. There is actually a lot going on in my family right now, so it just might be stress. I hadn't thought about outside factors. This weather is crap too lol. I am not a lover of hot weather- you will find me in the air conditioning when it starts creeping up to 90 and up. Yesterday was 100 degrees here! Well, 94 but felt like 100. I am not sure what that means but I didn't care for it.
I might need to change things up a bit, maybe that will work. Maybe I can find some nonfiction or a graphic novel or something. :)
Thanks Rita!
I hope you find something great to read this week. I think the heat has affected my energy levels too. Maybe that will change soon with highs in the 70s later this week.
ReplyDeleteAh that sounds like more civilized weather! This heat is not cool. Lol!! I just read what I wrote - how very literal of me. Lol.
DeleteMy reading is in high gear now that it is summer. I hope you get your mojo back soon. Come see what I read last week. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteYay for summer reading fun! I am glad you are off and running!
DeleteOh, your little guy is adorable and he's getting so big! I'm sure you'll be reading again soon.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I hope so too - I just need to find that right book to get me over this slump hump. :)
DeleteI love seeing from the corner of my eye those flashing photos of your son. I've been trying get through my library holds. I'm a bit disappointed with Rick Riordan's Magnus Chase right now. I will get through it just to finish it. Want it done before I leave.
ReplyDeleteAw thanks! My photos used to be all animals and food - now they are pretty much all Wyatt! :) Funny how that happens. :) I just put a million books on hold at the library - I know they will probably all come in at once lol. And oh no about your read - it is sad to get a disappointing one.
DeleteAh sometimes it is necessary just to veg. Your little delight is adorable. Aren't little ones the best.
ReplyDeleteYes, I totally agree. I definitely needed some veg out time. :) And thank you! Yes, they are pretty awesome. :)
DeleteVinegar Girl is on my list. Good picks. Happy Reading!
ReplyDeleteWyatt is such a cutie! Hopefully you find something that perks your reading interest soon. It certainly has been too hot to do just about anything besides lay around recently! :)
ReplyDeleteLooks like he is having a great time! I need some time to just veg out, it has been too busy.
ReplyDeleteHope this is a better reading week for you. But with that cutie, I am sure he makes it all right.
