The Sunday Post! It's Monday! What Are You Reading?

Check out the The Caffeinated Book Review for the Sunday Post
It's Monday! What Are You Reading is hosted by Kathryn at Book Date

I am so excited - I am signing Wyatt up for his very first summer reading challenge today! Our library's theme is Wild at the Library and his category is "Bush Babies", for the littles who can't read on their own yet. I will also be signing up for the adult summer reading program while I am at it. :)

It was a week of play dates, visiting, celebrating the wedding of two wonderful friends, a graduation party for a cousin, and ended with a slightly traumatic first swim in the pool for a little guy. He was doing ok until his father inadvertently splashed him then all hell broke loose. I am sure next time will be better!

Read Last Week:

Furiously Happy by Jenny Lawson: This book was hilarious! It had its serious moments as well, but Lawson made me laugh until tears rolled down my cheeks!

Missing Pieces by Heather Gudenkauf: A quick thriller - I say quick because it is not very long, but also because I couldn't stop reading it, so..it went quickly.

Since You've Been Gone by Morgan Matson: This was a fun spur of the moment read.  I saw it at the library and it just seemed like a breezy summer read. I enjoyed it!

Reading This Week:

I am not sure! I am starting our book club book for sure, but I plan on perusing the books at the library, so I am sure I will find something! I am hoping for a book to offset the intensity of this book club book! Maybe another YA book or two?

Posted Last Week:

Watching:

GoT, Alone on the History Channel, Sesame Street (Wyatt loves the Count's Number of the Day song and Elmo's letter of the day song.) We are also watching Community, which is hilarious.

  1. I just finished GoT, good grief a bit of an adrenaline rush there lol. I'm going to miss this show when it's done in a few weeks (only two more ???) Ack. Missing Pieces looks good I've seen that one around and everyone seems to like it (at least the reviews I saw). Enjoy the library program and hope you have a good week. :)

    1. Oh my gosh right!! GoT was so nuts - I have no idea what to expect anymore! I can't believe it is almost over either. :(

      Thanks!

  3. Hope you and Wyatt have a great time with summer reading challenge!

I read Missing Pieces a few months ago and I liked it. Not her usual style but it was a quick read. I love Morgan Matson's books too. If you are looking for something less intense to read, maybe check out her newest one, The Unexpected Everything. I may have to read that Jenny Lawson book. I saw that it was on sale for Kindle yesterday. Now I kind of wish I'd bought it!

    1. I'm really excited about the reading programs! I am bummed, I forgot to sign myself up while I was there! I will have to pop in later this week.

I looked for The Unexpected Everything and it was out. :( I did really like Matson's book, and also Missing Pieces. I had a really great reading week last week! I loved everything.

Yes, it was! My friend grabbed it for $2.99. Maybe it still is?

  4. Summer reading programs are the best! We had our Great Grandson visiting yesterday and "Pa",(great grandpa) was repairing a sprinkler head. He asked me to go turn on the system so he could check it out and our JoJo Bean was in the middle of the yard!. Needless to say there was wild screeching and a very disgusted look on his face that Pa let him get wet! He loves the pool, but this was decidedly different!!

    1. Lol ~ I think it just so shocking to them!! Like what just happened to me! Hopefully Wyatt's next experience isn't so tear filled. :(

I am excited to be participating in the summer reading program with Wyatt this year - it was such a big part of my childhood and while he won't really remember this year at all, I will. :)

  6. Oh yeah, the splashing of the face... not a good thing. Pretty soon he will be jumping in the water. We just signed up for the library summer reading program too.

    1. It was pretty crazy!!! I had fun but we were so tired. Lol. This week is much more low key. Which is good because I also need to catch up on some household stuff!

  8. Fun, exciting week for you! I can't believe Wyatt is signing up for a library reading group, even with you doing the reading. He's turning into such a little man!

I read and enjoyed Missing Pieces and really all the book Gudenkauf writes. I read another blogger praising Jenny Lawson and how funny she is. I don't usually read humor (I'm crotchety that way) but this looks entertaining. Thanks for sharing and hope you find some special books for you and Wyatt in the library this week.

    1. He is ~ everyone said it goes fast. It really does! :( He is still a cuddler though so yay! I will be crushed when he outgrows that.

I will have to check out the rest of Gudenkauf's work. The only one the library had in looked like it was about a school shooting and I couldn't bear to read that this week, with the Orlando tragedy. I am not a super humor reader but she was hilarious! I didn't think I would like it nearly as much as I did!

  10. Since You've Been Gone looks like great fun--is it YA or New Adult?

  11. Yay for summer reading programs -- that theme sounds so fun! I loved "Furiously Happy" too -- it was my first 5-star read of the year! Have you read "Let's Pretend This Never Happened"? If not, you must!

    1. They are having an exotic animals show this month to go with the theme ~ I guess last year 200 people went! Furiously Happy was so funny, I had to restrain myself when reading it during naptime. Lol. I haven't read that one!!! I will definitely have to.

  12. I've been trying to get Missing Pieces for ages. Sounds so very good.

  13. We used to be big fans of Elmo too, especially that letter time and when he talked to Dorothy. My brother used to love the Count as a kid. We just singed up for the summer reading program at our library. Had to return some books and the nine year old was insistent on getting that paper game board. We can play online too.

I love hearing from people, don't be shy! I would love to hear what you think! I always reply back, although it takes me a bit longer these days due to the little guy.
