Sunday Post/It's Monday What Are You Reading?

Check out the The Caffeinated Book Review for the Sunday Post
It's Monday What Are You Reading is hosted by Sheila at Book Journey - while she is on break you can share your post by tweeting with the hashtag #IMWAYR

I have figured it out, this whole reading with a baby thing. Wyatt unfortunately has acid reflux like a lot of preemies, and I have to hold him upright for at least 30 minutes following every feeding. He also needs to eat every three hours. So, after every feeding time when I am holding him upright, I read. It works perfectly. He always is asleep by the time he is done eating anyway, so these moments have become very peaceful for the two of us.

The rain this week!! I know most of the US is underwater right now, and Michigan, while not flooded in my area, has been getting rain like crazy! Everything is going to be so lush when it finally stops though; my rose bushes are about to bloom and my apple tree has little tiny apples growing! I have to admit, I miss the apple blossom stage - it is gorgeous. I am excited though too for the fall, when our tree is heavy with apples that we can eat.

Read Last Week:

The Silenced by Heather Graham: This was a NetGalley book. I usually really enjoy this series, but this one was meh. Review soon.

Reading This Week:

Ice Kissed by Amanda Hocking: I have been looking forward to this book since I finished the first in the series, Frostfire
From Beginning to End by Robert Fulghum: I used to read this author all the time! I am kind of excited to revisit him.

Watching:

Wayward Pines, which is freaky deaky. I can't wait for the new season of Orange is the New Black!

  1. I only recently learned that babies can get acid reflux. As an adult with GERD I feel so sorry for them! I am glad you found something that works to ease his symptoms. Nice bonus that you get some reading time in too! I am going back on Prevacid after two days of constant acid reflux. I had really hoped to go off the medication but I may be one of those people who has to be on it constantly :(

I would love a break from the rain. At least it didn't rain every day last week. Today it is supposed to only be 60 which seems kind of low for the first day of June.

I haven't read any of the books you mention though those Amanda Hocking books have such stunning covers. Happy reading!

    1. I feel so bad for the little guy! It took a while to work out how to make him feel better. We hold him upright like I mentioned, but he also gets Zantac twice a day. A minuscule baby size amount, but still medicine. It helps him immensely! I am so sorry to hear that you have it as well!

It is so cold here! In the 50s. It sounds like we are both having a cold first day of June!

      Thanks!

  3. I know- sick of rain! The next two days are supposed to be nice, I think- today was nice, but not warm enoug. That's nice that you and the litle guy get that time together- and reading too! Have a fabulous week.

  4. Glad you found a solution for making Wyatt feel better and getting some reading in. It's a win-win! We didn't get as much rain up here in my part of Michigan, but I agree about the cooler temperatures. It can get back to 80 anytime now!

  5. Glad you can combine bonding with baby time and reading time, nice! My son had colic and nothing worked all the time for us-- nothing! I couldn't breastfeed him, so we had to give him soy formula as they suspected cow's milk formula was harsher to digest. When he started on pureed he overate and then got digestive upset too. Not a good time for us, but it passed, as everything does. When Wyatt gains more weight he should need much less upright time after feeding. Enjoy him and your books!

  6. Aww, I am really sorry to hear about the reflux, that is a nightmare! My son had it, and it was so bad he needed medicine, so I feel your pain! The good news is, it DOES get better, relatively quickly usually! And bonding time is always a HUGE plus :) The apple tree is gorgeous too! Happy reading, hope you have a great week!

I love hearing from people, don't be shy! I would love to hear what you think! I always reply back, although it takes me a bit longer these days due to the little guy.
