It's Monday, What Are You Reading? is a weekly meme hosted by Sheila at Book Journey, that is guaranteed to add to your reading list.
Whew, last week was a doozy!! I had a million things to do, as well as get ready for finals, including the writing of a final paper. I am relieved that the worst is behind me, and I only have one test left on Friday. Not that my life is bound to get any less busy, being December and getting ready for Christmas. I did have a fun weekend. On Saturday, I went to the Detroit Urban Craft Fair with my mom, and later that evening the husband and I went to Noel Night in Detroit with my brother and sister-in-law. The Craft Fair was really fun, but Noel Night didn't seem as festive as usual. We still had fun walking around together, although my brother couldn't get over how slow pregnancy has made me! Lol.
Read Last Week:
I stuck to fluffy fun holiday reading before bedtime - I really needed it to relax!
The Heart of Christmas by Brenda Novak: I am not usually super picky when it comes to holiday romances, but I really didn't like this one too much. Maybe it was because I have never read this series before or what, but I didn't like it. Review soon.
'Tis the Season by Robyn Carr: On the other hand, I did really like this one. At least the first two stories? It says it has two holiday stories which it did, but then all of a sudden there was a completely unrelated story as well. I somehow didn't realize it had a bonus novella in it, until I was reading it. I blame fatigue! Lol. Anyway, I liked the two holiday stories a lot, but not the bonus story. Review soon.
Reading this Week:
Little Women: Finishing up this bad boy (girl?) this week. I didn't get much time to work on it last week, but I don't have much to go. Book club is this week so I need to get it done! I am planning on sitting lazily around today, so I will get some reading knocked out.
A Mistletoe Christmas by Carla Cassidy, et al: So far, I am really enjoying this cute little book.
Watching:
I plan on watching a million Christmas movies between now and Christmas! I feel a post about my yearly traditional movies coming up. Lol. Also, I am looking forward to watching the new TNT show, The Librarians!
Sounds like a super busy week for you! This is the perfect time of year for Little Women :)
ReplyDeleteI totally agree! And it was so busy. :(
DeleteJust thinking of the movie of Little Women and the snow and scenes in it were beautiful. Look forward to hearing about the Christmas movies you like to watch.
ReplyDeleteYes, beautiful!! I love snow. I am so ready for some snow here!
DeleteLook at you get into the Christmas reading! YAY!!!
ReplyDeleteLol! I am certainly diving into the holidays this year!
DeleteI like the Christmas movies too this time of year- we've already watched White Christmas a few times, and it's the kids actually who keep wanting to watch it- they like the dancing. :) And The Librarians looks great!
ReplyDeleteWhite Christmas is one of my favorites! :)
DeleteThe Librarians was meh. I had higher hopes for it. It was just a little too cheesy. I can handle some cheese, but it was just too over the top. :(
Ha! You're certainly getting into the Christmas spirit!
ReplyDeleteI am! I am so excited for Christmas! Although, I don't have much done. Lol.
DeleteOur Christmas movie each year is Love Actually - we love it actually!!
ReplyDeleteLove Actually is my very favorite!!!!!!! I love it!
DeleteThanks for popping by my blog too & expressing an interest in A Christmas Carol :-)
DeleteI've started a no-fuss, low-key readalong here - http://bronasbooks.blogspot.com.au/2014/12/a-christmas-carol-readalong.html
I watched a few Christmas movies recently. I started watching White Christmas but didn't get to finish it yet. I love Little Women and I will probably watch the movie soon.
ReplyDeleteI have The Heart of Christmas for review. I was struggling to get into the story (though I've read the others in the series) so I set it aside for now.
Good luck with your test on Friday!
I didn't even think about watching Little Women for some reason. But now I want to. Lol. We started Christmas movie watching last night, with Christmas Eve on Sesame Street, a nostalgic favorite of mine. :)
DeleteYeah, The Heart of Christmas. I really didn't like it. Looking back on it, I don't even remember much Christmas stuff about it! I forced myself to finish it, but it was a chore to read. :(
Thanks!
We love to watch many holiday-themed movies...some from my childhood (Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, It's A Wonderful Life, White Christmas, the original Miracle on 34th St, the original A Christmas Carol) and ones my kids liked when younger (Home Alone 1 & 2, Jingle All the Way, A Christmas Story, The Muppets' Christmas Carol). I will be looking for Love Actually now, thanks for the tip. I recommend Sleepless in Seattle, which takes place at Christmastime :)
ReplyDeleteForgot to add, above: what a strange cover for Little Women (scratching my head over this one)! I had a copy in my childhood with a much nicer and more appropriate cover on it. Oh well...
DeleteIt is kind of a weird cover! I am not sure why I like it, but I do! It's pretty weird though.
DeleteWe have some of the same movies on our lists! Good taste and all that. :) Love Actually is amazing! I am a giant fan. But, there is some nudity, just putting that out there in case its not something you care to see in movies. :)
