It's Monday, What Are You Reading is a weekly blog meme hosted by Sheila at Book Journey where you list the books you read last week and the ones you hope to read this week.
Read Last Week:
Sideways on a Scooter by Miranda Kennedy: I am about an hour away from finishing this book - I really love it and learned so much from it.
Winter Town by Stephen Emond: I made myself finish this book. It just didn't appeal to me at all.
The Water Witch by Juliet Dark: Juliet Dark is Carol Goodman, one of my favorite authors. Her normal stuff is not paranormal, but I like paranormal so I gave this series a whirl. I thought this book was enjoyable and entertaining, but..something was missing.
Reviews should be up this week on all of them - I am a little behind on reviews!
Reading this week:
Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys: I have heard great things about this book.
Days of Blood and Starlight by Laini Taylor: I didn't get to this last week, but I definitely will this week.
Between Shades of Gray is a great read, I hope you love it! Looks like you had some bad luck with a few of your reads...hope it's better this week!
ReplyDeleteI know - maybe I was just grouchy? Lol. I am glad I saved Sideways for last. :)
DeleteDays of Blood and Starlight - the cover looks so fascinating. I'll look forward to what you have to say.
ReplyDeleteI have to admit, I finally started reading this series because of the covers. They look so Mardi Gras and Carnival.:)
DeleteTrying to read Wolf Hall for bookclub but I am about to abandon it. I cant get into it at all. Yesterday I started reading it and decided to vacuum the house instead. That is a sign that this book isn't for me! Sideways on a Scooter looks good!
ReplyDeleteI feel like that is a book I want to read but not really. Does that make sense? Lol. And yeah, if you prefer cleaning your house to reading, its a definite sign! At least for me. I love Sideways on a Scooter!
DeleteYes, it does make sense! Deciding to vacuum is also a definite sign for me :)
DeleteToo bad about The Water Witch. I have a copy and am looking forward to it, but want to see what other people think before I commit. I love your wintery background, by the way! It looks great.
ReplyDeleteI liked the first in the series, The Demon Lover, better; this one wasn't bad, there was one part in it though that jumped the shark for me.
DeleteI loved Between Shades of Gray and Sideways on a Scooter. I still haven't read Days of Blood and Starlight yet. Hopefully sometime this year...
ReplyDeleteSideways on a Scooter was so good - I loved it so much more than I imagined I would. I knew I would like it, but not as much as I did.
DeleteI hope you will enjoy your books this week. When I see the photograph that forms the background for your blog, I see a Dutch roadsign, can I come to the conclusion that you are Dutch as well (just like me?) or is this just a coincidence?
ReplyDeletekind regards,
I saw this picture on Blogger, and I fell in love with it. I am not Dutch though. :( Where you live must be very beautiful! :)
DeleteI loved Between Shades of Grey. I hope you do as well! Enjoy your week!
ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to reading it - I am such a Russian history buff. :)
DeleteThe Water Witch cover is beautiful. I'm sorry the book doesn't live up to it!
ReplyDeleteI know, I totally love that cover! I was disappointed, but I have hope that if there is a next one it will be better. :)
DeleteI really liked The Demon Lover, bit bummed that the Water Witch didn't quite get there :(
ReplyDeleteBetween Shades of Gray is on my TBR stack ... one day lol. Love the cover of Sideways on a Scooter, there's just something about it that makes me want to pick it up!
ps I liked Beautiful Creatures but thought they tried to pack too much in making it a little disjointed
I think The Water Witch had good bones, but there was a lot of weird little things that bugged me. Like zombie beavers. Maybe the next book in the series will be better. (if there is one)
DeleteSideways on a Scooter was so good, I loved it.
I think I'll take a look into Sideways on a Scooter. I do love learning from novels. and after reading and seeing Life of Pi I'm intrigued by stories from India! xx
ReplyDeleteI really loved it. The author did a wonderful job of showing us her India.
