The Sunday Post/It's Monday! What Are You Reading?

Check out the The Caffeinated Book Review for the Sunday Post
It's Monday! What Are You Reading is hosted by Kathryn at Book Date

The sun is out and shining! It feels like it has been so long. I understand now why ancient cultures celebrated the return of the sun - all we have had lately, for months it seems, are gray, overcast days. So depressing. Today however, is beautiful. Yesterday was beautiful. Hallelujah!

We went out yesterday to Belle Isle and reveled in it at the conservatory - so it was a double happy spot. Not only did we get the sun, but it was so toasty warm in there. And green!! Pretty sure we all left smiling.

Read Last Week:

The Bookshop on the Corner by Jenny Colgan: I absolutely loved this book! I couldn't put it down, right from the very beginning. It was pretty perfect in my opinion. I'll be reading another Colgan book as soon as I can get my hands on one!

Reading This Week:

The High Tide Club by Mary Kay Andrews: I am so excited to read this! A review book from St. Martin's Press.

Watching:

We are still watching Riverdale - which might be getting better, although, Archie still.
We also watched all of the episodes of Big Dreams Small Spaces on Netflix and are obsessed. We need more Monty Don! And, we are watching The Gifted (still unsure on this show) and The Path, which has gotten excellent!

How about you guys?

  2. Yes the sun- about time! Ha ha. And ooh Belle Isle- fun!

I'm with you on the cultures thing. I often think of the native Americans who had to survive the winters with no heat, and the summers with no AC lol- musta been tough! No wonder, like you said, that people venerated the sun and/or the changing of the seasons!

The Bookshop on the Corner looks nice. And I'm SO behind on Riverdale! I need to catch up. Did you see the news that the new Sabrina show will NOT be crossing over with Riverdale? I was bummed about that. And I liked the Gifted, but mostly at the end when the Stepford cuckoos showed up.

    1. I know right? I was pretty sure the sun had forgotten about Michigan for a while there.

No AC or heat! I can't even imagine. When we had the eclipse last summer I thought about how scary that must have been, to have the night over take the sky in the middle of the day. I think though that ancient Mayans were also astronomers, so they would probably not have been upset but to other older cultures it must have been terrifying.

I loved the Bookshop on the Corner! It was so good. I would love to just take off and move to Scotland and open a bookstore. Lol. Not without my family of course, but the daydream of it all is so perfect. :)

I did not see that! That seems odd! And we just met the Stepford cuckoos - and they have made the show more interesting. Plus, I love Garrett Dillahunt. Lol. He is perfect in everything he is in.

  4. I'm jealous you got SUN and WARM. It snowed a few times this week in my neck of the woods. It doesn't feel like April!
    Have a wonderful week!

  6. We have a sunny day today too. Of course, it is also cold and the ground is mostly snow-covered with more snow predicted for later this week. I hope you enjoy The High Tide Club. I've been seeing it a lot lately. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

  7. Yes isn't the sun so important and helps us feel so much brighter. I am listening to heavy rain on the roof but that is to be expected now winter is approaching my hemisphere. I loved The Bookshop on the Corner as well. The one I am listening to of hers - her most recent, is great but heavier and somewhat sadder.

    1. It really truly does! I am pretty good with cloudy days, but after so many in a row - even I needed the sun! :) I also love a good heavy rain day. :)

It was your blog! I knew I had read about this author somewhere but couldn't remember where. I need to start writing things down like that.

      Aw sadder? :(

    1. Yes, here too! The weather needs to get with it, and stop with the cold and snowy already. Stay spring weather!

  9. I love seeing Wyatt's little face; he is so cute. We have a muggy day today with a bit of sun; it's 78° out. Told the husband we ain't turnin' on the house fan yet as it's nine degrees cooler in here. I worked out today and am sore like heck. I had to skip yesterday b/c my calves were screaming. I had to take IB once. The elliptical works way more than walking does.

    1. Aww thanks. My little smiley guy.

Oh to be in California! Warm temps! I am not really a warm weather worshipper but this Michigan winter is way too long!

Wow, good for you!! Especially after your surgery! Eat bananas. It is supposed to help. :)
