It's Monday! What Are You Reading is hosted by Kathryn at Book Date
I had a busy busy week but fun! My homework this semester is killing me, but the material is fascinating. Wyatt also got his little leg braces. They are super cute, black with skull and crossbones and red straps! I don't talk about it much, or at all really, online, but W. has mild cerebral palsy. It was a complication of his premature birth, and two brain bleeds. He is such a tough kid though, and determined like crazy -plus he has an amazing sense of humor.
We also spent the weekend with family and friends, flitting and flying here and there. We went to my favorite Fall Festival at Greenfield Village, with my brother and his family. It was a great time. And we finally have this beautiful autumn weather!!! Sunny, cool - I wish it would last forever!
Read Last Week and Week Before:
The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian by Sherman Alexie: What an amazing book. I was shattered by its bleakness in parts, and inspired by other parts.
City of the Lost by Kelley Armstrong: Armstrong is on a roll! Her books get better and better, and this is no exception. I really enjoyed this one and look forward to reading more in this series.
Pretty Little World by Elizabeth La Ban and Melissa DePino: I received this ARC from the publisher in exchange for an honest review, which is upcoming. I am all about communal living lately it seems in my reading trends, and this one was pretty darn good, although the characters were not that likable.
Reading This Week:
I have no idea! I need to check my TBR and get some things lined up for fall and Halloween! And I am sure I will find lots of good things to read when visiting all of your blogs too.
Posted Last Week:
Watching:
Death in Paradise, The Paradise, The Goldbergs. We are waiting to start our regular shows until some episodes have built up. We hear that American Horror Story is good this year so far! Hopefully it doesn't go overboard. :(
So how are all of you?
Enjoy them all and have a good week.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mystica!
DeleteAw, he sounds like a little pirate with his skull and crossbone leg braces. :) Yay for Greenfield Viallge, and yeah this weather is awesome. City of the Lost was really good I thought, my first experience with Kelley Armstrong and I'm looking forward to revisiting that story.
ReplyDeleteI've been watching a bit of Blacklist and now that Netflix has S2 of Zoo I may watch that, although the premiere episode bored me. And S2 of Flash and the new arrow season are coming to Netflix, but I'm only mildly excited. Maybe I'm tired of those shows.
Lol that is what they remind me of too. They are so tiny and cute!
DeleteI really enjoyed City of the Lost more than I imagined. I wasn't sure how it would be, minus the supernatural type elements that I usually read in her books, but she did a great job! I think it is a really unique series too.
Sometimes it seems like some shows get off to a slow start. :( I am counting down the days until The Walked Dead - I can't wait!
Booo....so unfair, American Netflix is so much better than Canadian Netflix! Still, better than the old days when I had to borrow everything on DVD.... ;)
ReplyDeleteLol! I never thought they would be different but I guess they are!
DeleteJust went back and your post... sounds like the first family trip was a big success! That's great! I've been wanting to read Sherman Alexie's book for ages. Need to make the time.
ReplyDeleteThanks JoAnn! It was really a great read, and very quick. Be prepared to be sad though. :(
DeleteYou keep reminding me that Kelley Armstrong is slipping down the TBR. So many books.......
ReplyDeleteThe braces sound super cute. I hope Wyatt loves them.
Here's my Weekly Roundup
She is pretty prolific!! Now I have two series I want to keep up on!
DeleteThey are adorable - he does pretty good with them. :)
Wyatt sounds amazing. The Fall festival makes me jealous, I bet I'd have loved it. Oh boy carte blanche on the TBR, great when that happens.
ReplyDeleteThe festival was a blast. I love everything fall. :)
DeleteI like how his braces are geared toward kids. His little face is so sweet. I am currently chillaxin' after two circuits around the neighborhood on my roller blades. We are braving another damn day of 90's. My poor babies will be roasting today. Cupcake at least has gym earlier in her schedule. My Jellybean will be roastin' on the yard during her recesses. I hope she's able to have PE in the multipurpose room.
ReplyDeleteAw thanks! He is a sweetie kid. Ugh 90s! I hope that things have cooled off for you guys!
DeleteGlad Wyatt loves his new leg braces. I've got the Kelly Armstrong on the stacks, glad to hear it is good.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed it, so much more than I thought I would honestly!
DeleteCity of the lost looks great thriller, must put it on on reading wishlist. I am happy to hear of the return of American Horror Story too. I am looking forward to watching the latest. I liked the last series based at the hotel. The Paradise is a lovely series too. I hope you are enjoying your viewing and happy reading too!
ReplyDeleteAmanda @ Mrs B's Book Reviews
I love The Paradise! I didn't think I would really, but it has grown on me. City of the Lost was really good, I definitely recommend it!
DeleteWyatt sounds like a trooper - and his new braces sound pretty cool!
ReplyDeleteCity of the Lost sounds quite intriguing, and I look forward to your thoughts on Pretty Little World. I hope whatever you read next is enjoyable; I love this time of year for seasonal reads.
Your trip looks and sounds really great! I hope you have a great week :-)
He is a tough kid, and generally so happy too. My stepmom calls him Buddha; he is so happy and loves to laugh and to make you laugh too. :)
DeleteCity of the Lost was really good. I enjoyed Pretty Little World - I just realized though that I am part of a blog tour for it and am reviewing it in January!!
Thanks Jade.
