I am looking forward to this week - on Wednesday nights in the summer, the Detroit Zoo hosts concerts in the evening. Some are aimed at adults, others are family friendly. Wyatt loves music, and so we are going to try one of these concerts out. We are going to see The Verve Pipe, a local children's band. It will be his first concert. Incidentally, The Verve Pipe used to be an alternative band when I was in college, and my friends and I all loved their song "The Freshman". It came out our freshman year and I remember we played it all the time! So weird that now they are a children's band.
Read Last Week:
All the Single Ladies by Dorothea Benton Frank: This was a fun relaxing read. These books always make me want to move to the Carolina Lowcountry though!
Reading This Week:
The Forgotten By Heather Graham
Owls Our Most Charming Bird by Matt Sewell
What are you all up to this week?
I read my first Heather Graham book last week: the first in the Krewe Hunters series and want to continue with her. Now I'm interested in that new book she has.
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoy the concert with Wyatt! Kids just naturally love and appreciate music so that will be lots of fun!
I am glad you enjoyed it! I think she does a great job with setting and research for these books, getting to know local lore and history for each of the spots the books are set.
DeleteI am excited to take him!
I want to read All the Single Ladies. It looks fun. I don't think I've read any books by her yet.
ReplyDeleteI had no idea The Verve Pipe is a children's band now! I loved that song too. Have a great time at the zoo. I hope Wyatt enjoys it too!
I really like her. I think my favorite so far by her is Shem Creek. :)
DeleteIsn't that crazy!! I had to double check that it really is the same band. I was like, no, it can't be! But it is. Lol. Thanks!
I didn't know that about that band! Interesting- I remember them too. Have fun at the show!
ReplyDeleteThat Owls book looks neat.
Isn't it so crazy! They were just getting their start when I was a freshman at Central, and they played in a lot of bars near there since they were from Lansing. I am looking forward to seeing them. Lol.
DeleteIt is pretty cool. :)
That's so cool the zoo hosts concerts. Hope you all have fun, my granddaughter loves music too. Have a great week and happy reading :)
ReplyDeleteThe Detroit Zoo does some pretty neat stuff. We are also going on the 20th to their Zoomance night. It is for adults only in the evening, and they serve adult beverages. It is fun! We go every year. This year I am looking forward to it - it will be our longest night out away from Wyatt to date, so I am a little nervous too!!
DeleteHow have I not heard about the Detroit Zoo concerts? What an awesome idea! I'll have to look into that!
ReplyDeleteThe Owl book looks interesting. I haven't seen it anywhere. I'll keep my eyes on the lookout.
