My Sunday/Monday Update! Feb 1, 2015

It's Monday, What Are You Reading? is a weekly meme hosted by Sheila at Book Journey, that is guaranteed to add to your reading list.

I have a cold! I really enjoyed subbing the past few weeks, and it seems the germs really liked me in return! Right now its not too bad, so here is hoping it goes away quickly.

I saw my baby doctor last week too, and she wants me to put on some more weight. She actually ordered me to eat whatever I wanted and to sit on the couch and read! That sounds like something that may only happen once in my life, so I am going to take advantage of it. Between my cold and the doctor's orders, I believe I am going to have a lot of time to read this week. I have apparently just been pushing myself too hard.

We are also in the midst of a blizzard! Well, maybe not a full on blizzard, but definitely big snow! 10-14 inches are predicted for today heading into tomorrow.

Read Last Week:

My True Love Gave to Me by assorted authors: It came! It finally came! I had only been waiting an entire month for it! It was worth the wait. I really loved all these short holiday/winter themed stories.

Reading This Week:

Beneath the Bonfire by Nickolas Butler: I did start this last week but it got shoved to the side when My True Love came in.

Frostfire by Amanda Hocking: I picked this up at the library yesterday - I think the snow drew me to it.

I am also continuing to read The Little Paris Bookshop. Maybe this week I will be slowed down enough to really enjoy it.

Watching:

A lot of CW shows! We also found Ellen's Furniture Design Challenge, which is pretty awesome. My husband likes to dabble in making furniture when he gets the time, and so he loved the show. He made me the cutest little bookshelf this summer! Also, I saw a preview for The Slap!! Last year, my friend who lives in Australia that I never get to see enough recommended this book to me. It is by Australian author Christos Tsiolkas and was also a television program in Australia. I am excited to see it was made for American television too!

    1. Thanks! We ended up getting 16.5 inches here!! My city was one of the surrounding cities with the highest snow totals. Didn't I just wish for snow? I guess I got it! Lol.

  4. The book and TV movie/mini series The Slap was really popular here. I wasn't a huge fan of the book so gave the TV show a miss. From memory it won quite a few awards.

    1. I wonder how different the American version will be, or if they will keep true to the story. It was definitely a disturbing read!

  6. I'm in San Diego so it's more like cold nights in the 50 degrees (Fahrenheit) that we have to worry about. I imagine the blizzard will make reading at home extra-comfy! Come to think of it, you have a lot of seasonal reads on your list. :D

    Hope you feel better soon!

    1. I tend to like to read in season. I have a hard time reading a book set in the summer during the winter - I guess I like atmosphere!

  7. We ended up with about 8 inches up here. Enough to finally give us a snow day! I always end up with a cold after the first week of school. Something about spending time with all of those little germ-carriers. :) Enjoy your reading and lounging!

  9. Eat and rest? I like your baby doctor! Haha!

I'm so glad you liked My True Love Gave To Me, especially after the wait! And even though you waited a while, it was still a suitable read what with winter weather being at an all time high... Or low, given the temperatures!

  10. Food and books on the couch...now! Ha, good doctor's advice for you and you should follow it. You probably got the cold from the kids who are shut up in the school building circulating their germs because it's so snowy out!

Seriously, grilled cheese sandwiches and vegetable soup for you (you are lacto-ovo veg, correct?) Hope you feel better and I'm curious about what you think of the Amanda Hocking book.

    1. Lol! I did do a lot of laying on the couch this week - unfortunately I didn't get much reading done but I did get quite a lot of sleep! :)I am feeling so much better today! I am sure that is exactly what happened too - the kids are just recirculating these germs, and I got in the path! :)

I did eat lots of soup and grilled cheese - grilled cheese is something I could eat everyday! I am finally feeling a little more alert and I plan to still rest but read today too. :)
