It's Monday, What Are You Reading? is a weekly meme hosted by Sheila at Book Journey, that is guaranteed to add to your reading list.
I didn't get as much reading done as I wanted this week. School surprised me with an essay assignment on top of the enormous workload we have weekly, so I was buried under a metric ton of schoolwork. I did get a little reading done, but not all that I wanted.

I am also a big chicken this year! I don't know if being pregnant makes you paranoid, but lately things that normally wouldn't scare me, do. So I have been settling for reading slightly less scary books, but with witchy/mystery/supernatural themes.
Death of a Gossip by M.C. Beaton: This series is so perfect for me right now, I am enjoying my rereading.
Shadow Spell by Nora Roberts: I don't usually read much Roberts, but I am really liking this series! It's fun and has that element of scary I am craving without being too intense.
Kiss of the Spider Woman by Manuel Puig: Our book club book for the month.
Reading this Week:
The Turn of the Screw by Henry James: A classic - let's hope that it doesn't put me over the edge!
Angel Stone by Juliet Dark: A nice little supernatural diversion.

I am really going to write some reviews this week!!
Watching:
Gilmore Girls (season 3!), Supernatural, Vampire Diaries and out of the corner of my eye, The Walking Dead and American Horror Story
Shadow Spell looks relaly good. I have not read Nora recently.
ReplyDeleteThe Nora Roberts series is really good! Irish witches, always fun to read about. :)
DeleteI feel like I need to start reading more scary books now that Halloween is nigh! I'm also considering watching Gilmore Girls since it's getting a lot of buzz!
ReplyDeleteLol I was feeling the pressure myself! Halloween is my favorite holiday, and here I am, not spending much time with it this year. Lol.
DeleteI absolutely love Gilmore Girls!
I have been reading more suspense this month but I don't like things that are too scary either. I will have to try M.C. Beaton's mysteries sometime. I hope you get more time to read this week. Last week I just finished one book and two novellas and I usually read 3 books a week. I just haven't been motivated. I've been watching more TV. Yesterday I was planning to read my book discussion book but I only read one chapter and spent the rest of the day watching old episodes of Downton Abbey and Gilmore Girls. :)
ReplyDeleteYeah, the whole scary thing isn't working for me this year. I love the Hamish Macbeth series - I think it is because it takes place in a small town, with quirky characters, much like Gilmore Girls. I am a sucker for that setting. :)
DeleteI have been watching more tv as well. Yesterday I had plenty of time to read yesterday as well but I snuggled up under some blankets on the couch and watched a marathon of Gilmore Girls episodes instead. Sounds like we had a similar day!
It wasn't a big reading week for me either... different reasons though. Turn of the Screw is a strange book. I've read it twice (possible three times?) and had a different idea about what happened each time.
ReplyDeleteOh wow! I am excited to start it then!!
DeleteI've been reading some mysteries but nothing scary, as it turns out. I thought I would too. I like the cover of the MC Beaton book, it has that village look to it...
ReplyDeleteNice apple orchard pics! I love getting donuts from those places... :)
It's just not the year for it, for me. I haven't even watched a scary movie yet! I plan to watch something Halloweeny soon, but it will be more on the level of The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown, or Disney's Sleepy Hollow. :)
DeleteThanks! And yes, the donuts! I think they are the best part! Lol.
I am loving that cover of The Angel Stone!
