It's Monday! What are you reading?

It's Monday, What Are You Reading? is a weekly meme hosted by Sheila at Book Journey, that is guaranteed to add to your reading list.

I didn't get as much reading done as I wanted this week. School surprised me with an essay assignment on top of the enormous workload we have weekly, so I was buried under a metric ton of schoolwork. I did get a little reading done, but not all that I wanted.

Read Last Week:

I am also a big chicken this year! I don't know if being pregnant makes you paranoid, but lately things that normally wouldn't scare me, do. So I have been settling for reading slightly less scary books, but with  witchy/mystery/supernatural themes.

Death of a Gossip by M.C. Beaton: This series is so perfect for me right now, I am enjoying my rereading.

Shadow Spell by Nora Roberts: I don't usually read much Roberts, but I am really liking this series! It's fun and has that element of scary I am craving without being too intense.

Kiss of the Spider Woman by Manuel Puig:  Our book club book for the month.

Reading this Week:

The Turn of the Screw by Henry James: A classic - let's hope that it doesn't put me over the edge!

Angel Stone by Juliet Dark: A nice little supernatural diversion.

Posted Last Week:

I am really going to write some reviews this week!!

Watching:

Gilmore Girls (season 3!), Supernatural, Vampire Diaries and out of the corner of my eye, The Walking Dead and American Horror Story

    1. The Nora Roberts series is really good! Irish witches, always fun to read about. :)

  2. I feel like I need to start reading more scary books now that Halloween is nigh! I'm also considering watching Gilmore Girls since it's getting a lot of buzz!

    1. Lol I was feeling the pressure myself! Halloween is my favorite holiday, and here I am, not spending much time with it this year. Lol.

      I absolutely love Gilmore Girls!

  3. I have been reading more suspense this month but I don't like things that are too scary either. I will have to try M.C. Beaton's mysteries sometime. I hope you get more time to read this week. Last week I just finished one book and two novellas and I usually read 3 books a week. I just haven't been motivated. I've been watching more TV. Yesterday I was planning to read my book discussion book but I only read one chapter and spent the rest of the day watching old episodes of Downton Abbey and Gilmore Girls. :)

    1. Yeah, the whole scary thing isn't working for me this year. I love the Hamish Macbeth series - I think it is because it takes place in a small town, with quirky characters, much like Gilmore Girls. I am a sucker for that setting. :)

I have been watching more tv as well. Yesterday I had plenty of time to read yesterday as well but I snuggled up under some blankets on the couch and watched a marathon of Gilmore Girls episodes instead. Sounds like we had a similar day!

  4. It wasn't a big reading week for me either... different reasons though. Turn of the Screw is a strange book. I've read it twice (possible three times?) and had a different idea about what happened each time.

  5. I've been reading some mysteries but nothing scary, as it turns out. I thought I would too. I like the cover of the MC Beaton book, it has that village look to it...

Nice apple orchard pics! I love getting donuts from those places... :)

    1. It's just not the year for it, for me. I haven't even watched a scary movie yet! I plan to watch something Halloweeny soon, but it will be more on the level of The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown, or Disney's Sleepy Hollow. :)

Thanks! And yes, the donuts! I think they are the best part! Lol.

I love hearing from people, don't be shy! I would love to hear what you think! I always reply back, although it takes me a bit longer these days due to the little guy.
