It's Monday, What Are You Reading is a weekly meme hosted by Sheila at Book Journey where we share what we have read and what we are reading and see what everyone else is reading.
Read Last Two Weeks:
I was on a little hiatus, out of town and then busy! But I am back in the groove. I am behind on reviews, hopelessly so, but I am going to attempt to catch up this week!
Of Poseidon by Anna Banks: Pretty cute little mermaid story, with an interesting mythology Banks created for her characters.
The Night Is Alive by Heather Graham: From Netgalley. I love this series, and I loved that this one was set in Savannah.
The Perfect Hope by Nora Roberts: Entertaining and fun, lighthearted and perfect for summer.
Reading This Week:
Of Triton by Anna Banks: For when I need to take a break from Main Street.
Main Street by Sinclair Lewis: I am taking steps to tackle the classics!
I am kind of interested in Of Poseidon though I prefer the Greek mythology of the Percy Jackson books.
ReplyDeleteI like reading books set in Savannah. It is one of my favorite places to visit. I even went on a fun ghost tour there. I could see it as a good setting for a paranormal/ghost story.
Good luck getting caught up on your reviews. I am really behind too. I think I just need to stop requesting stuff for awhile and then I keep seeing books I want to read...
I started the Percy Jackson series and really enjoyed the books that I read. I want to start reading the Kane Chronicles this summer too.
DeleteI love Savannah too! It is on my list of top three cities to visit. I went on a ghost tour there as well, I love those things. Lol. I try to go on one wherever I vacation. Lol.
Lol! I understand that!!
I never got into the Percy Jackson series. But I was always fascinated by mythology as a kid. I remember reading The Immortal by Christopher Pike in fourth or fifth grade and that seemed kind of racy!
ReplyDeleteChristopher Pike always felt racy to me!! I read them too young I think. ;) The characters were always partying and there was hints of sexy times happening too.
DeleteAll new to me. Looking forward to your thoughts on a couple of them.
ReplyDeleteThanks! :)
DeleteBusy busy! I hope you're able to relax with some good books soon! Good luck catching up too :)
ReplyDeleteI am not sure when my summer vacation relax time got so busy! But it did.
DeleteI like the cover of this Heather G. Enjoy the week.
ReplyDeleteThis one was fun. :)
DeleteI see it's a mermaid theme for the dog days of summer! Bunch of good books--Heather Graham I read long time ago, might check her out again. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI love mermaid stories - if I see one, I must get it. Lol. The Krewe of Hunters series by Graham is fun, and perfect for summer.
DeleteI've heard wonderful things about Heather Graham's Krewe of Hunters series. It's another one I need to start!
ReplyDeleteIt's a fun series!! And perfect for summer really - quick and light and entertaining.
Deletethe last time I tried to read a book written in the 19early 100's I was soooo bored. Chrome Yellow by Aldous Huxley who was a genius SciFi thinking guy. Wrote about TEST TUBE babies in his books. So I avoid books written long ago...oh wait...I liked Gone with the Wind (but I was 13 when I read it) and Little Women and Little Men (again, pretty young)...Still - I read the Huxley book recently and hated it, even as I marveled at his forethought.
ReplyDeleteBUT - I read some of the reviews of Main Street, only because I saw you had listed it to read. I just might have to give it a try. Maybe. It's just that people from the early past century used soooo many WORDS to explain anything. ;)
Another author I'm starting to look at, is Nora Roberts. It's been about 20 years since I read a book by her....just lost interest. but maybe one of her recent books would be good. :)
Have a great week
My Reading Week
Omg, Main Street is pretty boring so far. I am being honest. Lol. I am averaging about 20 pages a day with it. I am hoping it picks up a bit. Last night before I passed out reading it before bed, it had started to get a little more interesting. I am page 55. Lol.
DeleteI love Gone with the Wind and Little Women! I like some of these older style books, but not all. I hate reading Jane Austen. Ew. But I like the Brontes!
Lol. I know what you mean about Roberts. Her stuff is not that..original? She follows that same formula. I like this series because their is a ghost story wrapped into it, and the men are rough and tumble carpenters. Lol.
I loved Main Street, but I like that type of folksy classic. I love Nora Roberts. She is my go-to must-read whenever I'm feeling blah. She might follow the same formula, but she always manages to surprise me.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
I am hoping I love Main Street. I think I am having a hard time connecting with Carol - but I barely know her right now. I was just introduced to Bea last night, and I love the contrast between the two women. So, I have hopes for me and Main Street. But these first fifty pages, I have been struggling. I am not giving up though!
DeleteI love this Inn at Boonsboro series of Roberts. For a while, I definitely steered clear - but I do have some old favorites that I reread every year. Sanctuary and Carolina Moon. But I didn't feel her work that followed these books was as good.
I love my go-to authors - my standby is Barbara Michaels. :)
Great week. ENJOY!!!
