Those sound amazing! I am going to have to keep my eyes open for one. Pretty much all of us live within at least ten miles of each other. I was never much of a baker, and I really still am not. But living in my grandma's house, I feel more of a connection to her and to that side of her. And I think you are right, it is about love. We want to nourish and feed those that we love, and spending the time making something for them is about love too for us. And such memories can be invoked through food, like this one.

Erin @ Quixotic Magpiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10528275471104279266noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7525935409718931244.post-83254495825833594132016-02-28T10:53:55.787-08:002016-02-28T10:53:55.787-08:00Okay, one more comment :)

They look delicious!
In our family we used to have Linzer Tarts which are very similar except they have almond flavor added, whether through almond paste or ground almonds, I don't remember. Maybe because they are Austrian originally and I have Austrian-German descent in me. Anyway, none of my living relatives have the recipe, though my brother buys it from a good bakery when it's available, like at Christmas time.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7525935409718931244.post-7880870466553996982016-02-28T10:48:36.067-08:002016-02-28T10:48:36.067-08:00Thanks for sharing it! I'm almost drooling over the pics :)

I'm not a baker, just a wannabe good cook... and I don't make crusts from scratch so I probably won't do this one. But I realized that for your family this is a true labor of love, and you share the love by making it together and eating it together. Speaks volumes of your family tree, and you're lucky to have extended family members nearby. All I can say is: Yum!!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7525935409718931244.post-16813981758306176632016-02-28T08:56:18.022-08:002016-02-28T08:56:18.022-08:00I added one up above, but here it is as well. http...I added one up above, but here it is as well. http://allrecipes.com/recipe/19263/empire-biscuits/ Erin @ Quixotic Magpiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10528275471104279266noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7525935409718931244.post-47207708900330118332016-02-28T08:52:29.365-08:002016-02-28T08:52:29.365-08:00The worst part about having made them is now I kee...The worst part about having made them is now I keep eating them!
